Detection Of Buried Basement Highs By Airphoto Drainage Pattern Analysis, Reynolds And Wayne Counties, Missouri, Papken Aram Zarzavatjian

Masters Theses

"Purpose and Scope: The purpose of this study is to determine if it is possible to detect buried Precambrian igneous hills in Wayne County and the larger part of Reynolds County in southeast Missouri by the use of aerial photo drainage pattern analysis.

The St. Francis Mountains are located in southeast Missouri. They form a part of the Precambrian basement complex, and have been exposed at the surface by the erosion of the lower Paleozoic sediments which covered them. Some of the hills which make up the St. Francis Mountains are exposed to a great degree, while others still have …

Paragenesis Of The Minerals In The Einstein Vein Madison County, Missouri, Robert P. Stevens Jan 1958

Paragenesis Of The Minerals In The Einstein Vein Madison County, Missouri, Robert P. Stevens

Masters Theses

"Selection of the Problem: The mineralogical problem of determining the paragenetic sequence of minerals in the Einstein vein, Madison County, Missouri, was suggested by Dr. O. R. Grawe, who previously had supervised a thesis by Joel Pomerene dealing with the geology of the area. Although considerable attention has been given to the mineralization along the vein, a specific study of the paragenetic relations has not been made. Paragenesis has, however, been discussed by others in papers dealing with the geology of the area. Such a study is extremely important in the establishment of a hypothesis of origin, and hence, an …

Permeability Study Of Algal Reef Beds Within The Bonneterre Formation, National Mine, St. Francois, Missouri, Bobbie L. Perry Jan 1958

Permeability Study Of Algal Reef Beds Within The Bonneterre Formation, National Mine, St. Francois, Missouri, Bobbie L. Perry

Masters Theses

"The Missouri "Lead Belt" comprises approximately 50 square miles, centering around the town of Flat River, in St. Francois County. Missouri. This district has been producing lead for more than 200 years, the total production being at least 8,000,000 tons of lead, valued at more than $1,000,000,000. For many years, the annual production of the district has been at least one-fourth of the total production in the United States.

An excellent description of the geology of this area was published recently by Ohle and Brown in 1954.

The ore consists principally of galena which is disseminated within the Bonneterre formation …
