Noncontact Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injuries In Collegiate Female Soccer Players: The Effects Of A Four-Week Prevention Program On Landing Kinematics, Tess K. Marcordes
ELAIA
Background Noncontact anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are highly prevalent in soccer as quick changes in direction, stop-start motions, as well as jumping and landing often paired with shooting or passing a ball, are occurring continuously throughout a practice or match. Exaggeration of these movements with extreme joint motions increases the likelihood of ACL injury. An ACL injury can be detrimental to an athlete’s career, as 25% of athletes with such injuries do not return to their pre-injury level of play (Padua, DiStefano, Beutler, de la Motte, DiStefano, and Marshall, 2015). Myer, Ford, McLean, and Hewitt (2006), Garcia (2011), and …

Drowning Prevention: Define And Then Gather Evidence Or Gather Evidence To Define?, Nina J. Nyitrai, Suzi Edwards, Nicholas O'Dwyer
International Journal of Aquatic Research and Education

Data used to record drowning incidents are acknowledged as inaccurate. Recommendations on drowning prevention based on these data are currently not informed by accurate, detailed and reliable evidence. Two modifications to current practice are proposed: 1) an Aquatic Incident Report needs to be developed as an extension of the current workplace incident report to prompt for information commonly not included in current drowning reports; and 2) National Water Safety Plans should be modified to …
