Diversified Health-Related Nordic Walking Training Programs And Physical Fitness Of Elderly Women, Monika Wiech, Krzysztof Prusik, Zbigniew Ossowski, Katarzyna Prusik, Jakub Kortas, Hanna Slomska, Lukasz Bielawa

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Background: Aging of societies results in the growing number of disabled individuals, although the development of medicine and increasing awareness induce such changes as the modification of eating habits and lifestyle, which help to preserved independence for a longer period of time. Due to this, proposals of effective training programs to maintain physical fitness at a level enabling the efficient functioning in everyday life are sought. Material/Methods: The study group consisted of 60 women aged 60–74 years, participating in 6-month Nordic walking training. The respondents were divided into two groups: GE1, realizing endurance training with strengthening and flexibility exercises and …

The Long Lasting Effects Of Whole Body Rotation Vibration In A Fitness Exercise Program On Flexibility And Motor Coordination In Young Females, Tomasz Tomiak, Maria Agnieszka Niewiadomska, Mariusz Zasada, Ludmila J. Melnik, Viktor S. Mishchenko, Stanislaw Sawczyn

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Background: The aim of the study was to determine additional effects of 8 weeks’ whole body rotation vibration combined with a fitness exercise program of health-related training on chosen motor coordination abilities and flexibility in young females. Material/Methods: Thirty-seven young females aged 20-25 (students) voluntarily participated in the study. The training program included 24 training sessions which were performed over the course of 8 weeks (3 sessions a week) and was based on basic principles of health-related protocols. The program of sessions was performed by subjects of theexperimental group with a working whole body vibration platform (20 Hz), whereas those …

The Effects Of Watsu Therapy On Autonomic Cardiovascular Modulation And Flexibility Of Children With Cerebral Palsy, Ertan Tufekcioglu Mar 2022

The Effects Of Watsu Therapy On Autonomic Cardiovascular Modulation And Flexibility Of Children With Cerebral Palsy, Ertan Tufekcioglu

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Background: We aimed to compare and examine the effect of aquatic interventions, Watsu® vs Immersion, on the autonomic nervous system and the range of motion in children with cerebral palsy, due to common belief that use of Watsu is beneficial for the special needs. Material and methods: Twenty-three children (age 7.5±2.8) were randomized to receive Watsu® therapy and Immersion interventions in the cross-over, age-stratified study. Each therapy session lasted 30 minutes twice a week for a total of 10 weeks in two non-consecutive periods. Short-term heart rate variability parameters by using a Polar H7 heart rate sensor with a signal …

The Effectiveness Of Functional Training On Static Balance, Dynamic Balance And Flexibility Of Females With Intellectual Disability, Sakineh Farrokhian, Ghorban Hemati Alamdarloo, Enayatollah Asadmanesh

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Background: Children with intellectual disability (ID) have less balance and flexibility than typically developing peers. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of functional training on static balance, dynamic balance and flexibility of female students with intellectual disability. Material/Methods: The research method was pre-test – post-test with a control group. The statistical population consisted of all female students with ID in elementary school of Shiraz studying under the auspices of the Special Education Organization in 2018–2019. The participants included 30 female students with ID selected through convenience sampling and randomly assigned to the experimental (n = 15) …

Investigation Of The Relationship Between Sit-And-Reach Flexibility And The Height, The Leg Length And The Trunk Length In Adolescent Athletes, Bihter Akınoğlu, Büşra Paköz, Adnan Hasanoğlu, Tuğba Kocahan

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Background: Background: ‪‪The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the Sit-and-Reach (SR) test and the height, the leg length, and the trunk length of the male and female adolescent athletes, and to obtain relative SR test results using these anthropometric values. Material and methods: ‪‪Fifty-six adolescent athletes were included in the study. The athletes’ trunk, hip, and hamstring flexibility were evaluated with the SR test (traditional). The height-relative SR, leg length-relative SR and trunk length-relative SR test values were calculated by proportioning each data with the SR test values. Pearson/Spearman correlation analysis were used according to …

People high in rumination are good at tasks that require persistence whereas people low in rumination is good at tasks that require flexibility. Here we examine real world implications of these differences in dynamic, team sport. In two studies, we found that professional male football (soccer) players from Germany and female field hockey players on the US national team were lower in rumination than were non-athletes. Further, low levels of rumination were associated with a longer career at a higher level in football players. Results indicate that athletes in dynamic, team sport might benefit from the flexibility associated with being …
