The correlation of emotional intelligence and success for OT and OTA students during Fieldwork II has been minimally explored, but has been shown to be positively associated. To begin to better understand this relationship, which includes cultural humility and adaptability, this preliminary literature review of current research and exploration of Fieldwork Performance Evaluation related trends is designed to lay a framework for further studies.

Occupational Therapy Faculty Scholarship

Within our profession, we possess many tools for improving our patients’ and clients’ lives, which can be translated to mentorship of other OTPs by making it an intentional aspect of our career. Building upon our role competencies allows us to explore creative ways in which we can enrich our colleagues and students. By reviewing and identifying AOTA’s five “Standards for Continuing Competency” through the lens of being a mentor, confidence can be built based on what each OTP currently possesses. Building upon these Standards which include, knowledge, critical reasoning, interpersonal skills, performance skills, and ethical reasoning, each practitioner can begin …
