The valid and reliable Fitness-to-Drive Screening Measure© (FTDS) is a free online proxy measure that screens for at-risk older drivers using 54 driving-related items. This secondary data analysis aims to construct and validate a short form FTDS, using 200 caregiver FTDS response sets and 200 older driver on-road assessment pass/fail outcomes. To construct the short form, exploratory factor analysis and classical test theory techniques were employed to determine the most interpretable factor model and the minimum number of items that might be used to predict fitness to drive. Alli Berman has been an artist, educator, author, and lecturer for more than 25 years. Her art can be found in private, corporate, and nonprofit collections around the world. Berman is the creator of PuzzleArt, a series of small abstract paintings that combine to form a modular puzzle. When a stroke impacted Berman’s quality of life, she turned to art for answers. Engagement in a meaningful activity, such as painting, provided her motivation and strength for continued physical and psychological healing. Although recent clinical and scientific effort has focused on the development of guidelines for post-concussion return to play/work/learn, there is still relatively little literature that addresses specific treatment methods by which this can be accomplished. Accordingly, this study investigated the effect of a 7-week simulated classroom-based intervention on the self-reporting of symptom scores among 71 individuals with persistent concussion symptoms (26 men and 45 women). All participants were provided with novel strategies for reading, writing, study skills, social communication and technology use. Occupational therapy (OT) educators strive to prepare entry-level practitioners who have the expertise to meet the diverse health care needs of society. A variety of instructional methods are used in the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) MOT program, including traditional lecture-based instruction (LBI), problem-based learning (PBL), team-based learning (TBL), and game-based learning (GBL). Research suggests that active learning strategies develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are necessary for effective clinical reasoning and decision-making abilities. PBL, TBL, GBL are being successfully implemented in the UTHSC MOT Program to enhance the learning process and improve student engagement.

H.U.B. City Steps is a 5-year community-based participatory research walking intervention designed to help lower blood pressure in a majority African American population in southern Mississippi via community collaboration and capacity building, increased walking, culturally tailored health education sessions, and motivational interviewing. Building community capacity for physical activity is a key component of this intervention. Qualitative and quantitative methods have been used to assess how project stakeholders perceive the community capacity-building efforts of the project.
