The purpose of this study was to determine the level of camera phone awareness in outpatient community behavioral health facilities in a medium sized Mid-Atlantic state. Camera phones have been shown to have a detrimental effect on the protection of privacy in areas such as corporations, gym locker rooms, and court houses, but privacy issues have not yet been addressed in behavioral health. Privacy is an important issue in healthcare as shown through the implementation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
