Undergraduate Student Research Internships Conference
The goal of this research project was to take a multi-faceted, interdisciplinary approach to research and examine the Right to Repair movement’s progress, current repair practices, impediments, and imperatives, and the various large-scale implications (environmental, economic, social, etc.) stemming from diminished consumer freedom as a result of increased corporate greed and lack of governmental regulations with regards to repair and the environment. Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository
Viruses can trigger rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or inflammatory arthritis (IA). Our study provides insight into etiology of RA/IA. We analyzed the evidence relating to the risk of RA after viral infections; estimated the distribution of IA onsets over time; quantified the effect of influenza on the risk of IA.
Results of systematic review and meta-analysis showed that the risk of RA/IA is increased after parvovirus B19 and chikungunya virus. There seems to be a risk of RA after chronic hepatitis C (HCV), but whether it is a true RA or HCV-associated arthritis is not clear.
We estimated the distribution of …

Objectives: We examined whether certain characteristics of the social and physical environment influence a child's mode of travel between home and school.
Methods: Students aged 11 to 13 years from 21 schools throughout London, Ontario, answered questions from a travel behavior survey. A geographic information system linked survey responses for 614 students who lived within 1 mile of school to data on social and physical characteristics of environments around the home and school. Logistic regression analysis was used to test the influence of environmental factors on mode of travel (motorized vs "active") to and from school.
Results: Over 62% of …
