Baseline data collection of the Brazilian Longitudinal Study for Adult Health (ELSA-Brasil) was complete by December 2010. A cohort of 15,105 subjects has been followed up on incident events at six study sites for three years. The ELSA-Brasil is remarkable for its large sample size and wide variety of data collected to investigate biological and social determinants of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes mellitus in adults in Brazil.
