In 2020, the world got struck by a pandemic no one was ready for. Due to the lack of preparation, the world was forced to go into quarantine while scientists tried to create a vaccine. Every country took the actions they thought would be best, however not all of them saw positive outcomes from those decisions. In this paper Brazil’s decision on how to tackle the pandemic is analyzed, specifically how they tried to go for herd immunity, and their outcomes will be compared to the outcomes of the United States, who followed mask and quarantine mandates from specialists.

Health disparities are the differences in health outcomes and health status among people belonging to different groups. This means that people with low socioeconomic status, old age, racial and ethnic minorities, who are often those with limited access to healthcare may often face a higher disease burden and experience worse health outcomes. Paramedics on the front lines of Ontario’s COVID-19 pandemic response play an imperative role in patient care and infection management. They take measures to limit risks of contamination to themselves, other patients and providers while delivering this essential healthcare service but are often less recognized for their efforts. From 21 interviews conducted between April to June 2020, a secondary analysis on specific mental health concerns and stressors was completed. Preliminary findings include several pandemic related stressors and long-term occupational health and safety risks. Those affected by eating disorders experience disturbances in eating behaviors which are often related to underlying psychiatric disorders such as anxiety, depression, or obsessive-compulsive disorder (Parekh, 2017, Drieberg et al., 1998 p.53). The duplicitous nature of the disorder makes it difficult to diagnose, and the tole it takes on an individual’s physical health makes its mortality rate the second highest among psychiatric disorders (Guinhut et al., 2021 p.130). During our service-learning course on public health funding and grant writing, we had the opportunity to work at the Hearts and Hands Clinic. During the pandemic, many families lost their income and healthcare insurance. Thus, facing uncertainties about where to obtain medical care. The clinic wanted to expand its existing chronic care program to an underserved community in Evans County. College campuses have been an area where the novel coronavirus has spread rapidly, thus this study is focused on compliance with COVID-19 related non-pharmaceutical interventions among college students.
We surveyed over 600 college students from across the United States and modeled predictors of compliance with non-pharmaceutical interventions. To determine how applicable nationwide modeling might be to individual local campuses we also administered this same survey to nearly 600 students at two large universities in Utah County (Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University). Opioid Use Disorder is patterns of opioid use leading to withdrawal, giving up important life events in order to use opioids, and excessive time spent using opioids, to name a few diagnostic criteria. The clinical progression of the disorder involves periods of acute exacerbation and remission that are cyclic in nature. Treatment is most effective when it includes both pharmacological and psychosocial modalities, referred to as medication assisted therapy (MAT). Three drugs used commonly in MAT-based treatment for OUD from oldest to newest include Methadone, Buprenorphine-naloxone, and Naltrexone.
