The Effect Of Masks On Allergic Rhinitis Symptoms Related To Ragweed And Its Influence On College Students, Katherine Knutte

BACKGROUND: This study explored the effect of masks on allergic rhinitis related to ragweed. Research has been shown that surgical and KN95 masks reduce allergic symptoms due to dust, pollen, and ragweed. A study in Israel found a strong correlation was between wearing a KN95 and reducing severe allergic rhinitis symptoms related to nasal symptoms and another study focusing on pollen supported this finding. Lastly, a previous study on ragweed found that all nasal symptoms improved, and ocular symptoms remained unchanged.

Background: Healthcare providers lack knowledge about tick-borne diseases related to recognition, diagnosis, treatments, and communication. With the number of ticks and types of tick-borne diseases increasing, it is vital that providers know how to effectively diagnose, manage and treat a TBD patient.

Methods: A mixed method survey was implemented in 2021 with persons diagnosed with a tick-borne disease to explore their experiences with diagnosis, management and treatment. The survey was posted on TBD social media pages and sent through email snowballing. Thematic analysis was used to code results from three open-ended questions.

The challenge we face in implementing solutions for new HVAC ventilation and filtration design, is to effectively improve air quality for virus mitigation without losing performance efficiency. The purpose of this improvement is to decontaminate the occupied enclosed areas, reducing the transmission of the corona virus aerosol transmission. Our research seeks reliable approaches to mitigate the further spread of aerosol transmission in indoor spaces. Our reason for discussing severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) or 2019 novel corona virus (Covid-19), is to understand its aerosol transmission characteristics in indoor spaces and to mitigate further spread of this disease by designing a new HVAC system. The problem that we are tackling is the spread of covid-19 droplets through aerosol transmission by looking at potential engineering solutions to the existing HVAC systems. As crippling as migraines are, it is critical that there are therapies to prevent them rather than just treat them acutely. Known as a GPCR-like receptor, it is a component of the hedgehog signaling pathway; a pathway involved in body patterning and the regulation of adult stem cells.
