Adverse events that occur in healthcare settings may have serious negative implications for patients, families, health care providers, and healthcare organizations. There is a need for strong leadership to prevent and mitigate the damaging effects of adverse events. Authentic leaders have been shown to enhance interprofessional collaboration among healthcare providers and reduce the frequency of adverse events. The purpose of this study was to test the relationships among authentic leadership, interprofessional collaboration, and nurse assessed adverse events in a mediation model.
