Substance abuse, including alcohol and illicit drugs, continues to be a major health issue in the United States. According to NIDA (2015), almost 25 million Americans, (over 9% percent of the population), had used illicit drugs in the past month, and over 17 million had alcohol dependence in 2013. Also, a severe lack of treatment for all types of addiction has been delivered to those in need.
