Its integration with Artificial Intelligence (AI) has empowered it to become a potent screening tool and a predictor for various cardiovascular diseases, especially in asymptomatic individuals. Background: Electronic Medical Record (EMR) education and training for RNs should be multifaceted and targeted to the RN clinical workflow. Input from direct care RNs is essential to ensure EMR education is relevant and effective. Shared Governance at a community hospital identified quality and safety concerns among inpatient RNs. RNs reported that belongings inventories were not consistently documented in the EMR for Emergency Department (ED) admissions. Hospital policy requires belongings inventory EMR documentation for all admitted patients. An audit of charts for ED admissions over three months revealed only 5% compliance with this policy.

Background and Purpose: Implementing the SBIRT model for substance use in a primary care setting has many benefits including normalizing conversations about alcohol and other substance use into patients’ visits, thereby reducing harm, reducing consumption and its negative impact, and promoting system changes to overcome barriers to treatment access. Context: The COVID-19 pandemic provided a unique opportunity for urgent expansion of telemedicine services as providers continued to supply longitudinal care to patients. Patients with type II diabetes were vulnerable to serious infection with COVID-19 as well as disruption in management of their chronic disease.

Background: Oncology navigation programs have evolved to include services for addressing cancer care barriers, focusing on care coordination, patient experience, and care value, and may include nurses, social workers, and non-licensed trained workers as care navigators. The 2023 Enhancing Oncology Payment Model (EOPM) requires navigation services and emphasizes improving care value and outcomes. Effective healthcare navigation and collaboration can improve value by reducing care duplication, missed appointments, and emergency admissions; identifying and addressing health-related social needs; addressing health inequities; and improving time-to-treatment initiation and patient retention. Background: Acute chest syndrome is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in patients with sickle cell disease. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) provides specific recommendations for providing ten breaths of incentive spirometry (IS) every two hours while awake for patients with sickle cell disease to help prevent development of acute chest syndrome.

Problem Statement: We reviewed provision of incentive spirometry at Children’s Mercy between 08/01/2021 and 11/01/2021. Methods (include PDSA cycles): We hypothesized that increased awareness of historical ETT position would both prevent unnecessary ETT position adjustments and encourage prophylactic adjustments to adjust for significant weight gain or loss. COVID-19 is a staggering tragedy in a number of manners, but the lack of available access points to healthcare services due to federal, state, local and institutional regulations and decisions creates higher levels of patient vulnerability.

Patients with opioid use disorders (OUD) are especially vulnerable given high levels of coexistent housing insecurity, food insecurity and lack of primary care at baseline. These patients frequently utilize the emergency department for both medical and non-medical concerns.

  • Help TJUH patients navigate the telehealth system
  • Reduce system-wide appointment delays experienced by patients
  • Provide direction to COVID-19 resources

A Volunteer Script was prepared to help patients troubleshoot common issues with accessing the telehealth system and provide up to date recommendations from the CDC to remain safe.

  • Telehealth is the delivery of medical care via interactive audio and/or video telecommunication services.
  • Telehealth was previously used sparingly within the department of radiation oncology but has suddenly become the preferred method of contact.
  • In order to maintain quality of care, patient satisfaction, resident learning, and reimbursement, a robust telehealth clinical workflow is critical.

During this time, CareVio, a subsidiary of ChristianaCare, was tasked with developing a strategy to monitor the Delaware community. CareVio repurposed Twistle – a telemonitoring application utilized to distribute symptom related surveys and conduct text message conversations for follow up. This service had the capability to act as a virtual information desk and triage patients to be seen by virtual practice providers or the emergency department. Introduction: Rare diseases affect nearly 400 million individuals worldwide. The geographic density of any single disease, however, can prohibit access to care and research efforts. Telemedicine has improved access barriers in the clinical setting, though its application in rare disease trials has not been evaluated.

Objective: To assess the impact on access to care of videoconferencing in a rare disease clinical trial.

PURPOSE: To assess the use of a wearable technological device for the increase in attainment of physical activity (PA) with the goal of preventing Type II Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) through weight loss.

METHODS: Men and women over the age of 40, and at risk for prediabetes, were recruited. The study period was four months in length, with an initial four weeks of baseline PA testing, followed by 12 weeks of lifestyle intervention. Participants averaged 72 days of PA tracking with 46% of participants reaching the maximal number of days (77). RESULTS: Participants (N = 13) were aged …

Purpose of Study: Lack of access to pediatric subspecialty care is a major barrier to pediatric health for underserved populations in the Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland area. Lack of access to transportation, long office wait times, and missed school and work are barriers that prevent access to subspecialty care. Direct to consumer (DTC) telemedicine provides this service to our underserved population by bringing care into their own home through use of computers, tablets, and smart phones.
