European nations and the United States of America have vastly different outcomes in their treatment of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients, specifically when considering survival rate and patient satisfaction level. This research focused on Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologists’ (CRNAs’) perspectives on the value placed on their decision-making skills within the Anesthesia Care Team (ACT). The emphasis of the study was to examine CRNA’s perspectives on the strengths, challenges, conflict resolutions, and any other information they were willing to divulge when working with physician anesthesiologists in the ACT model. An electronic survey questionnaire was sent to practicing CRNAs, primarily in the southeast region of the United States, with 171 informants completing the questionnaire. Background: Chronic pain is prevalent in the United States. Frequently, rural primary care providers must manage patients’ chronic pain and any associated long-term opioids. Best evidence-based practices recommend, and in some cases state guidelines require, periodic functional assessment, for which the CDC endorses the PEG assessment scale.

Purpose: To integrate the PEG assessment scale into a rural, primary care practice and evaluate sustainability in following best evidence-based practice guidelines.

Background: Patients transitioning from an inpatient hospital stay to self-care responsibilities post-discharge are at risk for readmission resulting in increased cost and resource utilization. Care transition programs can result in cost avoidance and decreased resource utilization.

Purpose: The purposes of this project were to: (a) determine if implementation of a Discharge Clinic affected 30-day readmission rates in patients without a primary care provider, (b) ascertain if a visit by a paramedicine program paramedic impacted 30-day readmission rates in patients who missed their Discharge Clinic appointment, and (c) find out whether a second post-discharge phone call influenced 30-day readmission rates.
