Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune, neuroinflammatory disorder that is characterized by the breakdown of myelinated axons in the Central and Peripheral Nervous Systems. It is a potentially debilitating autoimmune disease that affects almost 1 million people in the United States, and nearly 2.5 million people worldwide. The precise etiology of MS is still being researched, but much progress has been made towards understanding the molecular mechanisms and impactful ways to treat this disease. Rheumatoid arthritis is the most prevalent autoimmune disease. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has no cure, and the direct cause of the disease is still unknown. The two leading hypotheses concerning its etiology are based on the effects of HLA-DRB1 gene expression, and cigarette smoke. Conjunctively, the use of vaping devices amongst adolescents has increased significantly since introduced in 2007. There is no long-term data on the effects of e-vapor and its aerosols on bodily health. Cigarette smoke is the most noteworthy environmental factor contributing to RA therefore the question is raised as to whether or not vaping relates to rheumatoid arthritis …

Leukemia is the number one cancer affecting children in the nation, with acute lymphoblastic leukemia being the most prevalent classification.1 While new and innovative treatment protocols have greatly increased the success rate of primary cancer patients, those who face relapse receive a much more dismal prognosis. Recent studies have shown that patients who relapse quite frequently have developed drug-resistant clones of the original cancer cells, leading to a need for various secondary treatment options. The drug-resistance is due to clonal mutations that take place within the cancer cell, most often because of an outside pressure or stress within the environment …
