Comparative Study Of Protrusive Record Accuracy With And Without George Gauge For Dentulous Cases, Aisha Z. Mostafa, Noha H. El-Shaheed

Mansoura Journal of Dentistry

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of the George gauge in protrusive records. Materials and Methods: This clinical trial includes a total of 12 dentulous subjects aged 20 to 40 years with no signs of muscular disease or temporomandibular joint disorders were chosen. For each patient, two different protrusive records were created, one with and one without the George gauge, using polyvinyl siloxane materials. The accuracy of these two protrusive records was evaluated by measuring the amount of midline shift in both records with a digital calliper. Then these Protrusive records were used to programme the articulator and …

To Achieve An Ideal Functional Occlusion And Esthetical Outcome By Interdisciplinary Treatment – A Case Report, Nien-Chieh Lee, Pi-Lun Chen, Chien-Jung Pai, Whei-Lin Pan

Taiwanese Journal of Orthodontics

A harmonious face may involve the proper skeletal and dental relationship, in combination with the color, contour, and position of surrounding soft tissue. A 51-year-old female patient complained about her protrusive teeth and asked for improvement of her facial profile. The clinical examination of the patient revealed bimaxillary protrusion, gummy smile, and several ill-fitted fixed partial dentures. The “surgery-first” approach was chosen to improve her facial esthetics and to achieve a normal occlusion by reducing orthodontic treatment time. Therewas still 2~3mm space remaining between upper left canine and second premolar after orthodontic treatment, and this problem was resolved by prosthetic …

Evaluation Of Strength Of Different Resin Materials Used In Overdenture, Mohamed Emam, Hesham E. Alam El Deen, Hamdy Abu El Fotoh, Ayman Fateen

Future Dental Journal

Introduction: Finding a suitable material that could be used to restore relatively small inter-arch spaces in which reasonable aesthetics as well as good functional strength could be achieved is a difficult process that requires good understanding of the clinical situation and precise management. Historically Metal used to offer the smallest possible thickness with excellent strength but lacks resiliency with poor aesthetics.

Aim of the study: This In-vitro study was conducted to compare two different aesthetic materials PEEK and ACETAL regarding their mechanical strength when used as Overdenture framework in a relatively small thickness.

Material and Methods: 120 specimens were …

10-Minute Ebd: Digital Scans Or Conventional Impressions: Which Results In Better Crowns?, Laura Tsu Dds

The Journal of the Michigan Dental Association

This 10-Minute EBD column critically evaluates the outcomes of digital scans versus conventional impressions in fabricating single-unit crowns, focusing on factors such as marginal and internal fit. Employing a PICO question and a literature search pathway via PubMed, the analysis includes systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Findings suggest that crowns from digital scans generally exhibit clinically acceptable marginal and internal fit, often outperforming conventional impressions. However, heterogeneity in study samples and methodologies contributes to varied results. While digital scans meet the standard of care, ongoing research is essential for a comprehensive understanding of the evolving landscape in digital prosthodontics.
