Reliability Of Bond Strength Using Universal Adhesives To Variable Dentin Conditions, Marwa Bawazir Jan 2019

Reliability Of Bond Strength Using Universal Adhesives To Variable Dentin Conditions, Marwa Bawazir

Student Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

Brief Background: Both three-step etch-and-rinse adhesives and universal adhesives have proven their effectiveness to produce successful bond to dentin. However, there are no studies comparing adhesives’ bond strength when applied by multiple operators, and to variable dentin conditions. Objectives: To evaluate and compare the bond strength of a universal adhesive when applied by multiple operators, and to variable dentin conditions, in comparison to three- step etch-and-rinse adhesive. Methods: Three hundred extracted human teeth were embedded in resin. Five dentists with at least ten years of experience in general dentistry and five pre-dental students applied a universal adhesive (Adhese Universal, Ivoclar …

Effect Of Air-Abrasion Preparation On Shear Bond Strength Of Orthodontic Brackets To Enamel Surface, Elliott Katz Jan 2018

Effect Of Air-Abrasion Preparation On Shear Bond Strength Of Orthodontic Brackets To Enamel Surface, Elliott Katz

Student Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

Introduction: An optimal orthodontic bonding system must minimize damage to the enamel during conditioning, have enough bond strength to prevent bracket de-bonding during treatment, and allow bracket removal at treatment completion, such that minimal damage is inflicted to the tooth.1 Pumice followed by acid etching has been the standard for many years; however, Groman Inc. (Margate, FL, USA) has stated that using their air-abrasion product will result in a tripling of bond strength. This method claims a three-fold increase in bond strength compared to traditional acid etching techniques by substituting air-abrasion using the EtchMaster® (Groman Inc., Margate, FL) 50 μm …

Evaluation Of Microshear Bond Strength Of Light-Cured Composite For Cementation Of Ceramic Veneer, Khalid Motlaq Jan 2017

Evaluation Of Microshear Bond Strength Of Light-Cured Composite For Cementation Of Ceramic Veneer, Khalid Motlaq

Student Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

Brief background and goal/ research question: Ceramic restorations were introduced as indirect restorative materials that combine high esthetics with superior mechanical properties. However, an important requirement for successful function of these restorations is adequate adhesion between the restoration material and tooth structure. The use of CAD/CAM restorations is steadily increasing, proper function and longevity of these restorations depends on good adhesion to the underlying substrate as well as operator technique. Preheated composite has been recommended by some clinicians and investigators for the adhesive luting of porcelain laminate veneers based on its good marginal adaptation and perceived superior mechanical durability when …

Evaluation Of The Effect Of Enamel Deproteinization On Shear Bond Strength Of Orthodontic Adhesives And Resulting White Spot Lesion Formation, Kelly Chioffe Jan 2014

Evaluation Of The Effect Of Enamel Deproteinization On Shear Bond Strength Of Orthodontic Adhesives And Resulting White Spot Lesion Formation, Kelly Chioffe

Student Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

A thesis submitted to the College of Dental Medicine of Nova Southeastern University of the degree of Master of Science in Dentistry.

Objective: The objectives of this study were 1) to evaluate the effect of enamel deproteinization on the shear bond strength(SBS) of orthodontic brackets bonded with a resin modified glass-ionomer (RMGI) adhesive and a composite resin, 2) to determine the mode of bond failure according to the adhesive remnant index (ARI) and 3) to evaluate the effect of these adhesives in the prevention of white spot lesions (WSLs). Background: WSLs are a concern for orthodontic patients. RMGI orthodontic adhesives …
