Immunohistochemical Assessment Of Angiogenesis And Cell Proliferation In Aggressive Versus Non-Aggressive Central Giant Cell Granuloma., Mena F. Mesiha, Mahmoud F. El Sherbeny, Sherif Y. El Nagdy

Mansoura Journal of Dentistry

Objective: The current study investigated the expression of MCM3 and CD31 in aggressive versus non-aggressive central giant cell granuloma (CGCG ) Materials and methods: Thirty-three paraffin blocks for CGCG cases were collected from Oral Pathology Departments, Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura, and Alexandria Universities. The Immunohistochemical staining for CD31 and MCM 3 was performed, assessed, and scored. Results: Mean age of the studied cases was 35.6±9.1 years. The lesions that occurred in the mandible represented the majority of cases [27 cases (81.8%)]. The study revealed an association between aggressiveness and the presence of large swelling, pain, cortical perforation, root resorption, and …

Objective: To investigate the immunohistochemical expression of SOX2 among the studied cases of ameloblastoma and odontogenic keratocyst in order to show if it correlates to the biological behavior of those odontogenic lesions. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out on 30 histo-pathologically confirmed cases of (15 ameloblastomas and 15 odontogenic keratocysts). These blocks were collected from archived files of the Department of Oral Pathology, Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura University. Sections were subjected to Immunohistochemical staining by SOX2 according to a standard protocol. Results: OKCs showed higher expression of SOX2 than Ab in all epithelial layers not confined to the …

Mansoura Journal of Dentistry

Objective: To identify the characteristic clinical and Histopathologic features encountered in the oral lesions of PCG and thus, clarifying the variability nature of the studied oral plasma cell granulomas (OPCGS). Materials and Methods a sample of 25 retrospective paraffin blocks of the OPCGS were thoroughly investigated histopathologically. Results: the studied OPCG was mainly represented as a gingival swelling, there was a female tendency in most of the studied OPCGS (92%), ranging from 11-73 years with a mean of 42.40. the majority of the current OPCG (64%) did not express any bone changes. the OPCGS of the present work were characterized …

Objective: To disclose the variation in EZH2 expression among the different grades of MEC and to analyze the marker's immunohistochemical (IHC) expression in relation to the clinicopathologic data of all cases. Material and methods: The present study was conducted on 15 blocks diagnosed as MEC including equal numbers of different grades. These blocks were selected from the archives of the Oncology Center, Mansoura University. The specimens embedded in the retrieved paraffin blocks were all fixed in 10% formalin. Sections of 4 microns’ thickness intervals were serially cut and prepared for the EZH2 staining. Chi-square, Monte Carlo, and Fisher Exact tests …

The Expression Of Bmi-1 In Ameloblastoma And Dentigerous Cyst, Omnia S. Mohamed, Azza A. Elsissi, Osama A. Elkashty

Mansoura Journal of Dentistry

Objective: To check for a possible relation between the expression of BMI-1 among two different odontogenic lesions; ameloblastoma and dentigerous cyst known for different biological behavior. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted on 14 formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded blocks (ameloblastoma (Am) group: seven blocks and dentigerous cyst (DC) group: seven blocks). These blocks were collected from archived files of the Department of Oral Pathology, Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura University. Immunohistochemically (IHC), the BMI-1 polyclonal antibody expression in the retrieved sections was investigated. A computerized method was used to compare the IHC staining intensity between both groups. Results: The difference in the …
