Care And Maintenance Of Dental Restorations, Ibeth Erazo
Care And Maintenance Of Dental Restorations, Ibeth Erazo
Publications and Research
Contributing to the longevity of the restoration by minimizing the effects of surface corrosion, maintaining the esthetic appearance and the smooth surface characterization, and contributing to gingival health by lessening the potential for plaque retention are the principal reasons for taking care of dental restorations. However, during oral hygiene routine procedures and prevention treatments, these desired effects are not always achieved. In many cases, the restorative materials are not identified in a patient’s record leading to damage during oral hygiene performance by dental professionals. Therefore, it is important to be able to recognize the different restorative materials and employ the …
The Development Of A Community Based Interdisciplinary Oral Health Care Team, Stephanie De Sam Lazaro
The Development Of A Community Based Interdisciplinary Oral Health Care Team, Stephanie De Sam Lazaro
Occupational Therapy Faculty Scholarship
Short AbstractOccupational therapy faculty and students collaborated with an existing community based oral health care team, Ready Set Smile, which provides oral health services and education to children in preschool and elementary school settings. The goals of the project were to expand the oral health knowledge of allied health care workers, to increase knowledge and perceptions of the roles of the interprofessional team members in oral health care services, and to provide family education to the families of children at high risk for unmet dental needs. The preliminary outcomes of all three goal areas of this project will be shared …
Replacing A Single Tooth: Single Implant Vs. Three Unit Bridge, Ibeth Erazo, Aneeza Hussain
Replacing A Single Tooth: Single Implant Vs. Three Unit Bridge, Ibeth Erazo, Aneeza Hussain
Publications and Research
There are more than two options for restoring a single tooth but our research includes a three-unit bridge and a single-tooth implant as the main options. In this paper, we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of these methods and the factors that must be considered when choosing between them for the replacement of a single tooth. Although in some cases a three-unit bridge is the most appropriate choice, implants have the advantage of allowing preservation of the integrity of sound teeth adjacent to the edentulous area. Many factors must be considered when choosing between a three-unit bridge and an implant …

Dental Medicine Faculty Publications
Endodontic sealers for non-surgical root canal treatment (NSRCT) span many compositions and attributes. This comprehensive review discusses current types of endodontic sealers by their setting reaction type, composition, and properties: zinc oxide-eugenol, salicylate, fatty acid, glass ionomer, silicone, epoxy resin, tricalcium silicate, and methacrylate resin sealers. Setting time, solubility, sealing ability, antimicrobial, biocompatibility, and cytotoxicity are all aspects key to the performance of endodontic sealers. Because sealing ability is so important to successful outcomes, the relative degree of microleakage among all the relevant sealers was calculated by way of a meta-analysis of relevant literature. Compared to AH Plus, tricalcium silicate …
Assessment Of Physical Properties Of A Zno/E ~Sealer Modified By Adding Moringa Oleifera: An Experimental In-Vitro Study, Engy M. Kataia, `Maram E. Khallaf, Nada Omar, Yousra Aly, Nancy Elshafei
Assessment Of Physical Properties Of A Zno/E ~Sealer Modified By Adding Moringa Oleifera: An Experimental In-Vitro Study, Engy M. Kataia, `Maram E. Khallaf, Nada Omar, Yousra Aly, Nancy Elshafei

Aim: In an attempt to move toward exploration of the antibacterial properties of herbal products, this study evaluated the effect of how the addition of Moringa would affect the physical properties of the commercial Endofil sealer. Materials and Methods: An experimental in vitro study was performed using three experimental sealers. There were four groups in this study: Group A (ZnO/E sealer alone), Group B (ZnO/E and Moringa root), Group C (ZnO/E and Moringa leaf), and Group D (ZnO/E and Moringa leaf extract liquid). Measurements were carried out according to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standardization 6876:2012. Moringa oleifera was added …

Effect Of Different Scaling Methods And Materials On The Enamel Surface Topography: An In Vitro Sem Study, Mahmoud Al Ankily, Fatma Makkeyah, Mohamed Shamel, Mahmoud Bakr
Dentistry
Aims and Objectives: Scaling is important for maintenance of gingival and periodontal conditions. These procedures have a harmful effect on the dental hard tissues. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of hand and ultrasonic instruments made of stainless and titanium on the surface properties of enamel. Materials and Methods: Forty extracted premolars were used in this in vitro study and were randomly divided into four groups (n = 10). Group I received ultrasonic scaling with stainless steel tip, group II received ultrasonic scaling with titanium tip, group III hand scaling with stainless steel tip, and group …
