Physicochemical Standardisation Of The Homoeopathic Drug, Apis Mellifica: A Preliminary Attempt, Bibaswan Biswas, Satyajit Maity, En Sundaram, Gv Narasimha Kumar, Satish Patel

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Background: Unlike the mainstream biomedical system, honeybees’ therapeutic use has long been well documented in the homoeopathic system. The medicine prepared from the whole honeybee, Apis mellifica, is on the Essential Drug List. Objective: An in-depth physicochemical standardisation of this homoeopathic drug is attempted. Material and Methods: In this study, first the raw drug was authenticated, and then its pharmacopoeial parameters were measured, e.g. moisture content, foreign matter, different ash values, alcohol and water-soluble extractive values. Further, the mother tincture of Apis mellifica was prepared from the authentic raw drug. The pharmacopeial parameters of in-house mother tincture …

High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography Fingerprinting And Antioxidant Study Of Mangifera Indica Mother Tincture, Binit Kumar Dwivedi, Manoj Kumar, Rakhi Mishra Sep 2021

High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography Fingerprinting And Antioxidant Study Of Mangifera Indica Mother Tincture, Binit Kumar Dwivedi, Manoj Kumar, Rakhi Mishra

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Background Mangifera indica is widely used in the Homoeopathy systems of medicine. In Homoeopathy, Mang. ind. is one of the indicated medicines for passive haemorrhages, uterine, renal and gastric problems. Mangiferin is a xanthanoid present in leaves, stalks barks, peel and kernel of the mango plant. Mangiferin has antioxidant, antiviral, anticancer, antidiabetic, antiaging, immunomodulatory, hepatoprotective and analgesic properties. Therefore in the current study, we have tried to identify mangiferin and its antioxidant properties in Mang. ind. homoeopathic mother tincture. Objective The aim of the present study wais to identify Mangiferin, Total Phenol Content (TPC) and Total Flavonoid Content (TFC) in …

Physicochemical Standardisation Of The Homoeopathic Drug Rumex Acetosella And Its Comparison With Another Homoeopathic Drug, Rumex Crispus, Bibaswan Biswas, Nilakshi Dey, G. Kumar, Renu Arya, Anil Khurana Jun 2021

Physicochemical Standardisation Of The Homoeopathic Drug Rumex Acetosella And Its Comparison With Another Homoeopathic Drug, Rumex Crispus, Bibaswan Biswas, Nilakshi Dey, G. Kumar, Renu Arya, Anil Khurana

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Background: Rumex acetosella, a relatively new drug in the homoeopathic system, is traditionally used for treating inflammation, diabetes and gastrointestinal problems, especially diarrhoea. Objective: The aim of this work is to report physicochemical standardisation of the homoeopathic drug, Rumex acetosella. Further, we propose our simple and economical method to differentiate it with a closely related species, Rumex crispus. Materials and Methods: The physicochemical study measuring several parameters was done. The pH of the mother tincture (MT) and the water extract was measured and compared. Furthermore, the chemical composition of the Rumex acetosella MT were compared with taxonomically closely related Rumex …

Chemoprofiling Of Homoeopathic Drug Holarrhena Antidysenterica L., Rakhi Mishra, Manoj Kumar, Binit Dwivedi, B Arya, Renu Arya, Anil Khurana, Raj Manchanda Dec 2018

Chemoprofiling Of Homoeopathic Drug Holarrhena Antidysenterica L., Rakhi Mishra, Manoj Kumar, Binit Dwivedi, B Arya, Renu Arya, Anil Khurana, Raj Manchanda

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Background: Chemoprofiling of homoeopathic drug/tincture (HT) represents a comprehensive approach for evaluation of quality, purity, safety and efficacy of HT. This paper reflects the chemoprofiling of Homoeopathic drug Holarrhena antidysentrica L. Objective: The objective of this study is to standardise Holarrhena antidysenterica mother tincture by taking the samples from four different sources: Dr D. P. Rastogi, CRI (H) Noida (A) and three from market (labelled as B, C and D). Materials and Methods: The authentic sample of bark of Holarrhena antidysenterica supplied by the Centre of Medicinal Plants Research in Homoeopathy, Emerald, Tamil Nadu, India was used to prepare the …

Physicochemical Study Of The Homoeopathic Drug, Blatta Orientalis, Bibaswan Biswas, Shyaga Jhansi, Ramchander Potu, Satish Patel, M Nagaraju, Renu Arya, E Sundaram, A Khurana, Raj Manchanda Sep 2018

Physicochemical Study Of The Homoeopathic Drug, Blatta Orientalis, Bibaswan Biswas, Shyaga Jhansi, Ramchander Potu, Satish Patel, M Nagaraju, Renu Arya, E Sundaram, A Khurana, Raj Manchanda

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Introduction: Blatta orientalis or oriental cockroach, also known as water bug or black beetle, belongs to class insecta and family Blattidae. In Homoeopathy, medicine prepared from it is used in a number of ailments, especially in the treatment of asthma. Materials and Methods: The physicochemical study includes evaluation of different parameters, namely foreign matter, moisture content, total ash, water-soluble and acid-insoluble ash values, water and ethanol extracts of the raw drug. Physicochemical studies, namely organoleptic specifications, sediment, specific gravity determination, total solids, pH measurement, thin-layer chromatography (TLC), ultraviolet-visible spectra and alcohol content have also standardised and presented for both in-house …

Pharmacognostic And Physicochemical Evaluation Of Homoeopathic Drug: Erigeron Canadensis L., Padma Pogaku, Subramanian Palani, Sudhakar Penthala, P Narayana, Nagaraju Mukkamula Mar 2017

Pharmacognostic And Physicochemical Evaluation Of Homoeopathic Drug: Erigeron Canadensis L., Padma Pogaku, Subramanian Palani, Sudhakar Penthala, P Narayana, Nagaraju Mukkamula

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Background: Erigeron canadensis L. is an erect annual herb belonging to the family Asteraceae. Aerial parts are used in Homoeopathy for bruises, cough, dysuria, gonorrhea, haemorrhages, haemorrhoids, spermatorrhea, and wounds. Objective: The pharmacognostic and physicochemical studies have been carried out to facilitate the use of correct species and lay down standards of raw drug materials. Materials and Methods: Pharmacognostic studies of the leaf and stem of authentic samples of E. canadensis L. have been carried out. Physicochemical parameters of the raw drug include extractive values, ash value, and formulation; besides weight per mL, total solids, and alcohol content, high-performance thin …
