It is estimated that 50-75% of postoperative patients feel they are not receiving adequate pain relief (Schneider, 2018). Both patients and nurses feel overwhelmed when pain is not well managed. Music therapy is safe, inexpensive, and has the potential to be easily incorporated into the nursing plan of care (Hole, Hirsch, Ball, & Meads, 2015).
