Lycopodium Clavatum As An Inhibitor Of Monosodium Urate Crystallisation In Gout: An In Vitro Study, Sithara Perveen P, Kr Mansoor Ali, Sheeba Veluthoor, Jijith U.S, Nithya T, Afiya Alloor, Shijil V K

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Background: Hyperuricaemia plays a significant role in the development and pathogenesis of several metabolic and systemic disorders including metabolic syndrome, hypertension, stroke and atherosclerosis. Lycopodium clavatum is the most widely used drug in homoeopathy for treating hyperuricaemia and gout. However, its mechanism of action in reducing serum uric acid remains uncertain. Objective: The objective of the study was to study the potential role of homoeopathic preparation of Lycopodium clavatum in different potencies on monosodium urate crystallisation in vitro. Methods: Spectrophotometric crystallisation assay was carried out on a stock solution of 5 ml of uric acid after its …

Cholesterol Lowering Activity Of Homoeopathic Preparations Of Colchicum Autumnale – An In Vitro Study, Nithya T, Mansoor Ali Kr, Sheeba Veluthoor, U S Jijith, P Sithara Perveen, Afiya Alloor, Shijil V K Sep 2022

Cholesterol Lowering Activity Of Homoeopathic Preparations Of Colchicum Autumnale – An In Vitro Study, Nithya T, Mansoor Ali Kr, Sheeba Veluthoor, U S Jijith, P Sithara Perveen, Afiya Alloor, Shijil V K

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Background: Total cholesterol content of erythrocyte membranes plays a critical role in atherosclerotic plaque progression and instability. Several homoeopathic medicines are known to have a significant role in the control of hyperlipidaemia. Colchicum autumnale is a plant remedy used mainly for gout, but also for hyperlipidaemia.

Objectives: This is a study to assess the in vitro anti-cholesterol action of the Colchicum autumnale (Colch. at.) on the erythrocyte membrane. Materials and

Methods: The study was conducted using a hyperlipidaemic blood sample which was divided into eight parts. Six different potencies of Colch. at. were tested, and two controls, …

Preclinical Updates Of The Homoeopathic Medicines Used In Diabetes Mellitus: A Narrative Review, G Kumar, V Chitra, Pankaj Gupta, Bibaswan Biswas, Arya Renu Mar 2021

Preclinical Updates Of The Homoeopathic Medicines Used In Diabetes Mellitus: A Narrative Review, G Kumar, V Chitra, Pankaj Gupta, Bibaswan Biswas, Arya Renu

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Introduction: Homoeopathy, one of the most commonly employed alternative medicines globally, has a wide range of role in the management of diabetes. Screening of the action of homoeopathic medicines in diabetes on animal model not only helps in validating their antidiabetic potential but also aids in understanding their effect on living systems and their mechanism of action. The present review focusses on the collection of results of pre-clinical studies carried out on homoeopathic medicines employed in the management of diabetes. Methodology: PubMed, HomBRex portal, and published literature such as library catalogue were searched up to November 2019. The search terms …

Antimicrobial Activity Of Different Homoeopathic Drugs And Their Potencies Against 'Aspergillus Niger' In Vitro, Suneel Prajapati, Sharma Mahima, Arun Kumar, Pankaj Gupta, Binit Dwivedi, Bhopal Arya, Renu Arya, Debadatta Nayak

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Background: Homoeopathic remedies are widely used all over the world for different disease conditions. Approximately 70% are derived from the plant; however, their preclinical evaluation is still a major concern. Objective: This study was undertaken with an aim to explore the antimicrobial effect of different homoeopathic drugs and its potencies against the Aspergillus niger. Materials and Methods: Fifteen homoeopathic mother tinctures (Θ) and their potencies (3x, 6x, 12x) were tested for their biological activity against the human pathogenic fungi A. niger using disc diffusion method according to clinical and laboratory standard (CLSIM44-A) with slight modifications. The diameter of zone of …

Evaluation Of Antifungal Activity Of Different Homoeopathic Mother Tinctures Against Candida Albicans, Suneel Prajapati, Mahima Sharma, Pankaj Gupta, Manoj Kumar, Binit Dwivedi, Bhopal Arya Dec 2017

Evaluation Of Antifungal Activity Of Different Homoeopathic Mother Tinctures Against Candida Albicans, Suneel Prajapati, Mahima Sharma, Pankaj Gupta, Manoj Kumar, Binit Dwivedi, Bhopal Arya

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the antifungal activity of different homoeopathic mother tinctures against the growth of Candida albicans. Materials and Methods: Homoeopathic mother tinctures (ф) Syzygium jambolanum, Ficus religiosa, Ocimum sanctum, Allium cepa, Thuja occidentalis, Holarrhena antidysenterica and Eucalyptus globulus were evaluated for their antifungal activity against the growth of human pathogenic fungi C. albicans using paper disc agar diffusion method as per guidelines of clinical and laboratory standard (M44-A) with slight modification. The diameters of zone (mm) of inhibition were measured, and the obtained results were compared with that of the vehicle control. Ketoconazole …
