Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Alcoholic extract of potentised Catharanthus roseus (L.) G. Don. was evaluated for its anti-leukemic activity in in-vitro model. For this in- vitro study two cell lines namely, jurkat and K562 for promyelocytic leukemia and chronic myeloid leukemia were used. The cell lines were grown in Roswell Park Memorial Institute Medium (RPMI 1640 medium) containing 10% fetal bovine serum and 2mM L-glutamine. Doxorubicin (Adriamycin, ADR) was used as positive control drug. Growth inhibition of 50 % (GI50) was calculated from [(test growth in the presence of drug at the four concentration levels Ti - time zero Tz)/( control growth C-Tz)] x …

Neuroprotective Effect Of Bellis Perennis And Hypericum Perforatum On Pc12 Cells, Andleeb Khan, Kumar Vaibhav, Hayate Javed, Mohd Khan, Rizwana Tabassum, Md Ahmed, Syed Raza, Mohd Ashafaq, V Khuwaja

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

The rat pheochromocytoma (PC12) cell line is widely applied as a model system to study a variety of neuronal functions. Upon addition of nerve growth factor (NGF), these cells undergo differentiation characterized by an increase in acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity, and extension of neurite-like processes. Oxidative stress is implicated in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders and the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of Bellis perennis (Be) and Hypericum perforatum (Hy) (6C and 30C) on healthy neuronal cells. Both homeopathic medicines have been studied at three different concentrations of 2 μl/ml, 4 μl/ml and 8 μl/ml for 96 …

Putative Protective Effect Of Cadmium Chloride High Diluted Solution On Llc-Pk1 Cell Intoxicated By High Concentration Of This Same Metal: An Isopathic In Vitro Assay, Roberta Ghilosso-Bortolini, Leoni Bonamin, Carla Holandino

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Cadmium is an important toxic environmental heavy metal. Several studies have demonstrated that a major site of cadmium toxicity in humans and in other animals is the proximal tubule of the kidney. A well established model for nephrotoxicity is the use of in vitro technique with proximal tubule epithelial cell lines, as LLC-PK1. Herein, we have the intention to study the possible protective effect of high diluted CdCl2 solutions. In a blinding way, LLC-PK1 cells were pre-treated with high diluted Cadmium chloride in the potencies 10cH, 15cH and 20cH. After 4 days, these cells have received CdCl2 in a pre-determined …

Enhanced Super Continuum Generation In Water In The Presence Of Ultra Dilute Solutions, P Joshi, A Dharmadhikari, P Barvalia, V Joshi

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Intense ultrashort laser beam, after propagation through a transparent medium (water in this work), experiences self-focusing, thereby increasing the intensities in localized area to such high values so as to induce nonlinear optical effects like the generation of white light super-continuum and multi-photon absorption. We have carried out experiments for measuring super-continuum generation in water that contains ultra dilute solutes (of ethanol). Our observations of generation of super-continuum spectra in various solutes indicate that our measurements are able to make a distinction between normal water and water mixed with such ultra-dilute solutes i.e. Homoeopathic medicines.

Evidence Based Clinical Study On The Effect Of Homoeopathic Medicines In Cases Of Ovarian Cysts, Girish Gupta, Nilima Singh, Richa Singh, Santosh Singh, Chaturbhuj Nayak, Anil Khurana

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Background and Objectives: Patients with persistent ovarian cyst for more than 6 months which do not respond to hormone therapy usually, require surgical treatment. Surgery should be avoided as much as possible in unmarried and childless women where future reproductive functions are of prime concern. There are a few claims by homoeopathic physicians to have treated cases of ovarian cysts with homoeopathic medicines. Such claims, however, have neither been scientifically documented nor published. To give scientific support to such sporadic claims, a clinical study was carried out to evaluate the usefulness of homoeopathic medicines for treatment of patients suffering from …
