Background: Although adequate physical activity is an essential component of treatment for metabolic dysfunction-associated stea-totic liver disease (MASLD), the majority of people with MASLD do not engage in regular exercise and lead sedentary lifestyles. We aimed to identify perceived barriers to exercise and to examine awareness about the role of exercise in the treatment of MASLD. Methods: Individuals aged 18 years and above were recruited from a hepatology outpatient clinic. MASLD severity was assessed using controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) and transient elastography (TE) determined liver stiffness measurement (LSM) for the severity of hepatic steatosis and fibrosis, respectively. An online questionnaire …

The astounding success made by artificial intelligence in healthcare and other fields proves that it can achieve human-like performance. However, success always comes with challenges. Deep learning algorithms are data dependent and require large datasets for training. Many junior researchers face a lack of data for a variety of reasons. Medical image acquisition, annotation, and analysis are costly, and their usage is constrained by ethical restrictions. They also require several other resources, such as professional equipment and expertise. That makes it difficult for novice and non-medical researchers to have access to medical data. Thus, as comprehensively as possible, this article …

Master of Science in Nursing Final Projects
Abstract
Aim: The aim of this integrative review is to explore barriers to early detection in women experiencing postpartum hemorrhage.
Background: Women in the United States are more likely to die from childbirth complications than any other women living in other developed countries. Despite advances in maternity care, postpartum hemorrhage is the cause of nearly 70,000 maternal deaths every year, comparable to one woman dying of postpartum hemorrhage blood loss every eight minutes. Most maternal deaths are avoidable, as the solutions to prevent and manage these deadly complications are well known. Risk factors, assessment tools, causes, interventions, and outcomes are …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026
Many cancer survivors experience cognitive impairments that impact memory, concentration, speed of information processing, and decision making. These impairments, collectively known as cancer-related cognitive impairments (CRCIs), are a key domain of unmet needs and can significantly impact a cancer survivor’s identity and quality of life. However, there are no purpose-built, multi-domain, needs assessment tools specifically for CRCI. The development of such tools requires an in-depth understanding of cancer survivors’ CRCI-specific challenges and associated needs. This study explored the challenges and associated needs of cancer survivors with persistent CRCI. An in-depth qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with (a) cancer survivors with …

The transition from high school to attending a university has been shown to have an impact on the mental health and well-being of first-year university students. First-year students struggle with anxiety and depression in relation to being in a new environment, feeling lonely, fitting in, and taking more academically rigorous coursework. Current students have an awareness of what mental health and well-being resources on their campus are available to them, but such resources are not widely used, though a majority of students indicate that they do or have struggled with their mental health. This indicates that though students are struggling …

Physical education (PE) is an important part of school education worldwide, and at the same time, almost the only subject that explicitly deals with body and movement. PE is therefore of elementary importance in the upbringing of young people. This also applies to children with visual impairments. However, existing findings on participation and belonging in PE as well as on physical and motor development reveal that this group of children and adolescents is noticeably disadvantaged in this respect. Against this background, this paper aims to explore fundamental barriers and challenges across different types of schools, types of schooling, and countries …

Safety For Community Health Nurses In Rural And Remote Communities: A Literature Review And Research, Kathlyne Pham
Nursing | Senior Theses
Many safety measures devised and implemented are focused on urban hospital settings, which differs from rural and remote settings. Community health nurses are expected to travel and visit their clients’ homes alone, which leaves the nurses vulnerable to their environment. This brings up the question: Does the safety of community health nurses in rural and remote areas have an impact on the care provided in the communities that they serve? After reviewing the six primary literature, three common themes were revealed: lack of boundaries in their personal and professional lives, safety concerns (i.e. isolated geographical locations, workplace violence), and increased …
