Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder classically affecting flexural areas of the body. It is present in children and adults, including those with darker skin pigmentation. Chronic lesions are hyperpigmented plaques that are dry, cracked, and/or scaly often with lichenification. Differential diagnoses include psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, ichthyosis, and pityriasis rosea. This article will showcase clinical images with varying presentations of chronic atopic dermatitis in a range of age groups and skin colors according to the Fitzpatrick scale.

Data on the prevalence of allergic diseases in children with proven drug allergies are limited. We aim to evaluate thefrequency of allergic comorbidity in children with proven common drug allergies.Materials and methods: Children with drug hypersensitivity confirmed by diagnostic allergy tests at our center between January 2010and December 2020 were screened retrospectively. Patients with the most common drug allergies (due to antibiotics, nonsteroidalantiinflammatory drugs [NSAIDs], and antiepileptic drugs) were selected for analysis. Atopic dermatitis (AD) is an inflammatory, pruritic, noncontagious, chronic relapsing skin disease. Skin barrierabnormalities, excessive T helper 2 activity, and immune dysregulation are held responsible. Androgens have a negative effect on theintegrity of the epidermal skin barrier, while estrogen has a positive effect. We aimed to investigate whether hormones make a differencebetween healthy children and children with AD during minipuberty.Materials and methods: A total of 96 infants (postnatal 4–13 weeks), 48 diagnosed with AD and 48 controls, were included. Non-pharmacological approaches are regarded as generally safe, well tolerated, and cost effective. Over 1 week, she developed approximately 80 widely distributed lesions. Background: There is increasing discussion online concerning the management of atopic dermatitis (AD). Patients often document their subjective experience of a given treatment. It remains to be determined if the experiences vary based on treatment or align with efficacy.

Objective: To determine which treatments are associated with positive or negative experiences.

Methods: The largest online AD platform was searched for posts that only discussed a singular treatment. The discovered 28,159 posts were rated “positive” or “negative” by DistilBERT, a pre-trained sentiment analysis model that derives from BookCorpus, a collection of 11,038 books containing 74 million sentences. The purpose of this integrative review was to assess the research on topical emollients to prevent atopic dermatitis (AD) also known as eczema, in infants at high risk for this condition. Atopic dermatitis is a common chronic inflammatory skin disorder. Skin barrier dysfunction plays a prominent role in its development. Topical emollients have been hypothesized to enhance the skin barrier and prevent AD.

Atopic Dermatitis (AD) is a chronic dermatological disease caused by a combination of hereditary and environmental factors. This is a common condition that is primarily diagnosed among children, but can persist throughout adulthood. Twenty peer-reviewed articles are analyzed in this expanded literature review. Various methods were implemented throughout these studies, including randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, and single-blind studies; all of the studies shared the objective of evaluating AD alleviation with the use of either standard treatment modalities or alternative/ complementary therapies.

INTRODUCTION: Little is known about how patients with asthma and eczema perceive their medical care and burden of disease. A survey was conducted to evaluate the perceptions among the general patient population with asthma and/or eczema regarding disease and treatment burden and barriers to adequate care.

METHODS: An online survey was completed by market research panelists in the USA between March 24, 2020 and April 6, 2020. Eligible participants were at least 18 years of age and endorsed a diagnosis of asthma and/or eczema. Several studies conducted in Europe have suggested a protective association between early-life farming exposure and childhood eczema or atopic dermatitis; however, few studies have examined associations in adults.

Objectives

We investigated associations between early-life exposures and eczema among 3217 adult farmers and farm spouses (mean age, 62.8 years) in a case–control study nested within an US agricultural cohort.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a mutual allergic skin disease between humans and dogs manifesting varieties of similarities in their immune responses to the disease. Recently, activation-induced cell death (AICD) of NK cells was acknowledged as a novel disrupted immunoregulation in human AD. To gain insight into its plausible commotion in canine AD, NK cell expression profiles extracted from PBMC Drop-Sequencing (Drop-Seq) data of normal and AD dogs were analyzed along with human NK cell profiles of healthy and AD patients previously reported. Objective To investigate the role of endothelial selectin (E-selectin) in atopic dermatitis (AD) through evaluation of the immunohistochemical expressions in lesional skin biopsies. Background AD is a chronic, pruritic inflammatory skin disease that occurs most frequently in children. In AD, the inflammatory cascade is initiated by the release of proinflammatory cytokines from atopic keratinocytes. Objective To study and evaluate the dermatological signs found in patients with Down syndrome (DS). Background The dermatological signs found in patients with DS have been less clear and infrequently studied and must be completely elucidated. Patients and methods This cross-sectional study included 50 patients with DS confirmed clinically. The sample comprised 28 boys and 22 girls. Their ages ranged between 1 and 40 years. We separated the sample into five age groups: 0–5 years, 14 patients; 6–10 years, 22 patients; 11–15 years, eight patients; and older than 16 years, 6 patients. Mutations of the filaggrin gene (FLG) are associated with allergen sensitization and allergic diseases like atopic dermatitis (AD), allergic rhinitis, food allergy (FA), and asthma. Background: The prevalence of atopic dermatitis (AD) has rapidly increased in the past 4 decades and has been mostly observed in children. The prevalence of obesity has also significantly increased worldwide, suggesting that the two conditions may be associated.

Methods: This retrospective analytic study involved a cross-sectional design and used secondary data taken from the medical record of patients who visited the Pediatric Dermatology Subdivision at Dermatology and Venereology Polyclinic Sanglah General Hospital from January 2015 to December 2015. A case report of a 31-year-old woman who developed anterior subacapsular cataracts, and associated dermatological signs, after exposure to black mold. While atopic illness is commonly seen in childhood, a growing body of literature supports adult onset atopic dermatitis. Anterior subcapsular cataracts are pathognomonic for atopic illness, and can support a definitive and expedited dermatologic diagnosis of adult onset disease.
