Hospital-based palliative care services aim to streamline medical care for patients with chronic and potentially life-limiting illnesses by focusing on individual patient needs, efficient use of hospital resources, and providing guidance for patients, patients’ families and clinical providers toward making optimal decisions concerning a patient’s care. This study examined the nature of palliative care provision in U.S. hospitals and its impact on selected organizational and patient outcomes, including hospital costs, length of stay, in-hospital mortality, and transfer to hospice. Older adults with impairments in both hearing and vision, called dual sensory impairment (DSI), are at an increased risk of negative health outcomes such as impaired communication and difficulties with mobility. It is unknown whether DSI is associated with potential quality of care issues. This study used a set of home care quality indicators (HCQIs) to examine potential quality issues in older clients (65+) with DSI. The purpose of this study was to determine health insurance literacy levels and assess attitudes and perceptions about health insurance among young adults aged 18 – 24 years. Data for this quantitative descriptive research was collected using the Health Insurance Literacy Measurement (HILM) tool in addition to 15 developed survey items. The survey was distributed to 233 student Minnesota State University, Mankato students. Overall findings of this research indicated that among sample young adults, most of the participants had positive attitudes and perceptions towards health insurance, such viewing health insurance as something important to them and important to their health. …

It is generally thought that hartals negatively impact the healthcare delivery in a society. The objective for this study was to explore if characteristics of personality type using the Preferred Communication Style Questionnaire, in concert with the demographic characteristics of age, education, and race/ethnicity, are associated with, and help predict, individuals’ medication adherence behavior.

Data were collected via an on-line survey, sent to a sample of adults residing in the United States, between April 28 and June 22, 2015. Out of 26,173 responses to the survey, 16,736 reported taking one or more medications and were eligible for inclusion in this study.
