Lice Of Public Health Importance And Their Control, Harry D. Pratt, Kent S. Littig
Lice Of Public Health Importance And Their Control, Harry D. Pratt, Kent S. Littig
Harold W. Manter Laboratory: Library Materials
Lice have been intimately associated with man for centuries. Infestations with lice occur today in the United States and many other countries despite great efforts to maintain high standards of public health. Public health agencies are often called upon if infestations include or expose large groups of people, particularly those in public institutions such as schools, jails, hospitals, or homes for the aged.
The three sucking lice that infest humans are: the body louse (Pedlculus humanus humanus), the head louse (Pediculus humanus capitis), and the crab louse (Pthirus pubis). The body louse is the …

Articles written by honors program students. They were originally research projects, class papers or essays written for academic credit, but in each case the student has done further work editing and improving his or her manuscript for this publication. The articles represent a broad range of interests and disciplines, and they indicate a healthy attempt on the part of at least some students to dig for deeper knowledge and understanding than is usually associated with undergraduate study.

Verbal Reward & Punishment & Need For Approval In Schizophrenics, Chester Gay Jr.
Verbal Reward & Punishment & Need For Approval In Schizophrenics, Chester Gay Jr.
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The current study was designed to further examine the effects of verbal reward and punishment on task performance of schizophrenics. The relationship of need for approval of schizophrenics (as measured by the M-C SDS) to performance and to reward and punishment was also examined. Verbal reward and punishment along with need for approval served as independent variables. Task performance was the dependent variable. The following major questions were asked:
- Does verbal reward and punishment significantly influence performance of schizophrenics?
- How is the personality construct, need for approval, related to performance of tasks by schizophrenics?
- Is there a significant interaction between …

The Influence Of Electrical Stimulation Of The Leg During Surgical Operations On The Subsequent Development Of Deep-Vein Thrombosis, L R Dejode, Mohammad Khurshid, W W Walther
Section of Haematology/Oncology
The effect of galvanic stimulation of the calf muscles during surgical operations on the development of postoperative deep-vein thrombosis was assessed using 125I fibrinogen in 64 patients over 40 years of age undergoing major surgery. Alternate legs were stimulated in alternate patients using the opposite leg as a control. No significant difference in the incidence of deep-vein thrombosis was observed either in the immediate postoperative period or later.

Journal Articles
This symposium abounds with learning and insight, but one should not overlook the fact that its purposes and its effect are revolution. Institutional confinement of the "mentally ill" in America is a massive social failure and a festering evil. These authors lawyers, social scientists, scholars, psychiatrists, and students have a target in their sights, and they are not out primarily to analyze the target; they are out to destroy it.
