Metabolic Role Of Sulfates And Sulfides Producing Bacteria In Pollution Of Waters, M. I. H. Aleem
Metabolic Role Of Sulfates And Sulfides Producing Bacteria In Pollution Of Waters, M. I. H. Aleem
KWRRI Research Reports
Cytochrome transport particles from Nitrobacter catalyzed nitrite, ascorbate as well as NADH oxidation with concomitant phosphate esterification yielding P/0 ratios of 1.0, 0.6 and 2.0 respectively. Phosphorylation coupled to nitrite oxidation was not effected by rotenone, amytal or antimycin while 50 and 70% inhibition of the NADH-linked phosphorylation was observed in the presence of HOQNO and rotenone respectively. Cell-free extracts from Nitrobacter also catalyzed an energy-dependent reduction of NAD+ by nitrite. The reduction of cytochrome c by NŌ2 was energy-dependent which involved the reversal of electrons from cytochrome a1. The subsequent energy-linked reduction of the flavoproteins …

The Development Of A Basketball Battery For Middle School Male Students, Robert Chappell
The Development Of A Basketball Battery For Middle School Male Students, Robert Chappell
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
There has always been a great deal of interest in the measurement of playing ability in team games and many researchers concerned with physical education have made efforts to measure individual aspects of games in relation to the total game situation. However, any objective measurement of skill in a team game will present difficulties, for in many instances the final battery of tests bears little resemblance to the game situation. Games are usually broken down into a number of component parts for the purpose of testing, but the sum of these parts seldom adds up to the total game. Tests …

Physical Working Capacity Of Adult Men Resulting From A Progressive Aerobics Program, Gary Kaye
Physical Working Capacity Of Adult Men Resulting From A Progressive Aerobics Program, Gary Kaye
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
This study was designed to determine the effects of a progressive aerobics training program on the physical working capacity of adults as measured on the bicycle ergometer.
The following hypotheses were tested:
- A progressive aerobics training program does not increase physical working capacity (PWC).
- A progressive aerobics training program has no effect on resting, exercise or recovery heart rate.
- A progressive aerobics training program does not increase predicted maximum oxygen consumption (VO2).

Process Of Producing Equine Viral Arteritis Vaccine And Product Thereof, John T. Bryans, William H. Mccollum, James C. Wilson, Elvis R. Doll
Veterinary Science Faculty Patents
A process is disclosed for producing an avirulent attenuated live virus vaccine for use in immunizing horses against equine viral arteritis and for simultaneously obviating the transmission of the disease from a vaccinated horse to a non-vaccinated horse. The invention also includes the product derived from practice of the process and typical examples of the efficacy of the product are disclosed.

The Relationship Between Personality Factors Of Collegiate Football Players And Their Effectiveness On The Playing Field, Charles Williams
The Relationship Between Personality Factors Of Collegiate Football Players And Their Effectiveness On The Playing Field, Charles Williams
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
Through the years there has been increasing interest in the investigation of the athlete's personality. Much emphasis has been placed on the psychological characteristics of athletes of a given age group and ability level. Coaches, trainers, and others involved with athletics believe that personality is an essential ingredient in developing a highly skilled individual. However, the ones in leadership seldom put forth explicit statements of such beliefs into a meaningful theory structure that can be assessed and therefore verified. Statement of the Problem: The purpose of this study was to determine whether differences in personality factors existed between groups of …

Influence Of Temperature Of Incubation And Type Of Growth Medium On Pigmentation In Serratia Marcescens., Robert P. Williams, Cora L. Gott, S M. Qadri, Randolph H. Scott
Journal Articles
Maximal amounts of prodigiosin were synthesized in either minimal or complete medium after incubation of cultures at 27 C for 7 days. Biosynthesis of prodigiosin began earlier and the range of temperature for formation was greater in complete medium. No prodigiosin was formed in either medium when cultures were incubated at 38 C; however, after a shift to 27 C, pigmentation ensued, provided the period of incubation at 38 C was not longer than 36 hr for minimal medium or 48 hr for complete medium. Washed, nonpigmented cells grown in either medium at 38 C for 72 hr could synthesize …
