Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy

Background: Homoeopathic medicines are traditionally potentized by serial dilution followed by succussion. Respective roles of these two components need to be assessed and explored for which the present study was undertaken. Objective: To compare the effect of the medicine Cuprum metallicum (Cup. met.) potentised through both serial dilution and succussion with succussion alone on selected biological and physical systems. Method: Starting with the medicine Cup. met. at 6C, we potentized it further to 30C and 200 C by serial dilution, followed by succussion (Set A). The same medicine at 6C was also potentized to 30C and 200C by using succussion …

The Antimicrobial Effects Of Allium Sativum On Escherichia Coli, David Borja, Johnny Aldan, Bsn, Rn Aug 2019

The Antimicrobial Effects Of Allium Sativum On Escherichia Coli, David Borja, Johnny Aldan, Bsn, Rn

Journal of Health Disparities Research and Practice

Allium sativum (Garlic) is an herb that is grown all over the world, and can be found in the homes of many people. This herb has many medicinal properties, but is mainly known for its antimicrobial properties. Fresh garlic contains enzymes called “alliinase” and “alliin”. When garlic is crushed or cut into the alliinase converts the alliin into allicin. Allicin is what gives the garlic its antimicrobial properties and odor.

The antimicrobial activity of the Allium sativum extract was tested on Escherichia coli, a gram-negative bacteria, using the agar-well diffusion method. A test tube containing only Escherichia coli was …

A Comparative Phylotyping Analysis Of E. Coli Originating From Avian Colibacillosis Based On The Clermont Triplex Scheme And Gyra Gene Sequencing, Mohsen Amiri, Elham Ahmadi Jan 2019

A Comparative Phylotyping Analysis Of E. Coli Originating From Avian Colibacillosis Based On The Clermont Triplex Scheme And Gyra Gene Sequencing, Mohsen Amiri, Elham Ahmadi

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Avian colibacillosis (AC) is frequently reported from poultry farms in the west of Iran. The aim of the present survey was to evaluate the phylogeny of Escherichia coli isolated from AC through the Clermont triplex protocol and gyrA gene sequencing. One hundred and fifty fresh carcasses suspected of having died from colibacillosis were sampled. The specimens were examined for E. coli isolation and identification. The extracted DNA repertoire of the isolates was subjected to phylogenetic analysis using Clermont triplex PCR. A DNA fragment of 1.8 kbp of the gyrA gene was amplified from a representative of each phylogroup or subgroup …

Antimicrobial Resistance And Phenotypic And Molecular Detection Of Extended-Spectrum Ss-Lactamases Among Extraintestinal Escherichia Coli Isolated From Pneumonic And Septicemic Sheep And Goats In Rajasthan, India, Fateh Singh, Ganesh Gangaram Sonawane, Jyoti Kumar, Shivendra Kumar Dixit, Rajendra Kumar Meena, Bhupendra Nath Tripathi Jan 2019

Antimicrobial Resistance And Phenotypic And Molecular Detection Of Extended-Spectrum Ss-Lactamases Among Extraintestinal Escherichia Coli Isolated From Pneumonic And Septicemic Sheep And Goats In Rajasthan, India, Fateh Singh, Ganesh Gangaram Sonawane, Jyoti Kumar, Shivendra Kumar Dixit, Rajendra Kumar Meena, Bhupendra Nath Tripathi

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The present study was planned to isolate Escherichia coli from pneumonic and septicemic sheep and goats and to determine antimicrobial resistance (AMR) patterns of the isolates and evaluate them for the presence of extended-spectrum ß-lactamase (ESBL) using the phenotypic and molecular methods. Pneumonic lung tissues and heart blood samples were collected by performing necropsy on sheep (n = 96) and goats (n = 08). The samples were processed and used for bacterial isolation. E. coli isolates (n = 58) including 53 from 34 sheep and 5 from 3 goats were recovered and identified by the cultural and biochemical characteristics and …

Virulence Factors And Antimicrobial Resistance In Uropathogenic Escherichiacoli Strains Isolated From Cystitis And Pyelonephritis, Hosseinali Ghazvini, Keyvan Taheri, Elahe Edalati, Ali Miri, Mansour Sedighi, Shiva Mirkalantari Jan 2019

Virulence Factors And Antimicrobial Resistance In Uropathogenic Escherichiacoli Strains Isolated From Cystitis And Pyelonephritis, Hosseinali Ghazvini, Keyvan Taheri, Elahe Edalati, Ali Miri, Mansour Sedighi, Shiva Mirkalantari

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of virulence genes as well as patterns of antibiotic resistance in cystitis and pyelonephritis uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) isolates. Materials and methods: Two hundred UPEC isolates were collected from hospitalized patients with pyelonephritis (n = 50) and cystitis (n = 150) in Shafa Hospital in Iran. Antimicrobial susceptibility and ESBL production were determined with confirmatory tests. Polymerase chain reaction assay was performed to determine the prevalence of virulence genes in UPEC strains. Results: Of a total 200 UPEC isolates, the highest and lowest resistance rates to antibiotics were for …
