Frozen embryo transfers (FETs) are now the standard of care in in-vitro fertilization. FETs require estrogen administration followed by progesterone (E/P), though there is no best treatment algorithm. A GnRH agonist may be used to decrease the risk of ovulation along with E/P, though benefit has not been proven, and it increases both cost and time. We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients treated with and without a GnRH agonist in programmed FET cycles. All patients undergoing FET from a single private practice facility from January 1, 2018 to December 31st, 2019 were included in this retrospective cohort study. In …

BACKGROUND: Patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) may choose to provide an advanced directive (AD) or delegate a health care proxy (HCP) to make decisions for them if they were to become incapacitated or unable to make decisions for themselves. Although universally recommended for patients to make end of life decisions, there is no consensus on whether these directives are specific enough to guide treatment decisions. The objectives of this study are to examine the presence and specificity of an AD or HCP documented in patients' medical records as well as the demographics and outcomes associated with the …

Infectious diseases are caused by a wide spectrum of organisms and can present in myriad fashion. They are important contributors to morbidity and mortality. While some infections are localized to specific organs, others can cause systemic illness. Identification of source of infection is a very important step in the management of infections but may be occasionally challenging due to non-specific symptoms and signs. Imaging plays an important role in the diagnosis and localization of infection. Several anatomical and functional imaging modalities are available, with the choice of specific imaging modality dependent on the clinical presentation as well as availability of …

Cold Knife Conization (CKC) and Loop Electrical Excision Procedure (LEEP) are interventions used to treat pre-malignant and malignant cervical lesions. On occasion, multiple excisional procedures may be required to treat these lesions. This study aims to identify the risk factors associated with needing a re-excisional procedure of the cervix within one year of the first excision and to investigate if re-excisional procedures within one year are at higher risk for complications. A multi-site, retrospective study of patients aged 18 years or older undergoing either CKC or LEEP from 2019-2021. Clinicopathologic and surgical factors were examined to test for risk factors …
