The number of Canadians being treated for kidney failure has more than tripled in the last 20 years, making hemodialysis (HD) a more common and expensive treatment option. Individuals having in-center HD require access to transportation to and from an HD center on average three days a week for a total of six trips. The main objective of this dissertation was to understand better how recovery is perceived by individuals after PHF. This overarching objective aligned well with the broad conceptualization of the issue at hand as those provided by the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). This study used descriptive qualitative methods to explore how Animatrice de Santé Maternelle (ASM)-CHWs working in select regions of Rwanda gained and enhanced their knowledge and skills to support maternal and newborn health care. In 2017, several hospitals in Ontario implemented the Electronic Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (eCTAS). This new technology affects a critical area of the Emergency Department: triage. There is no research on Registered Nurses’ (RNs) perceptions of eCTAS. A quantitative non-experimental descriptive survey obtained and quantified RN perceptions of eCTAS at a hospital with a 23 bed Emergency Department. The Diffusion of Innovation Theory was used as the theoretical framework to help guide study development. Canadian healthcare system is under immense economic pressure. In an attempt to resolve the problem, outpatient surgical services were offered to patients presenting with orthopaedic surgical complaints. An observational cohort study was carried out, comparing the conventional surgical setup to the newly designed high-efficiency setup that provided similar care, with a significantly lower operating cost. A total of 200 patients were enrolled in the study. Standardized and unstandardized questionnaires were used to evaluate pre-operative and post-operative patient data that reflected quality of life outcomes. Instagram is a social media platform that enables users to share images and videos worldwide. Some nurses have utilized Instagram to document their experiences as a nurse and have subsequently gained microcelebrity status. In this qualitative content analysis, publicly accessible Instagram posts were analyzed to identify the characteristics and behaviours of nurses who have active microcelebrity status on Instagram.
