Capstone Experience
As the number of people 65 and older increases due to the baby boomer population, there will be a greater demand for long-term care (LTC) services. Quality improvement in LTC is essential to ensure positive health outcomes, patient satisfaction, and reduction in healthcare costs. The purpose of this systematic literature review is to identify the current quality initiatives for LTC in the United States and evaluate the outcomes, effects, and values of each quality initiative identified to support the claim that current the quality initiatives have a limited effect on quality improvement in LTC settings. Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, And Maintenance Of Mobile Electronic Clinical Decision Support Tools Deployed As Part Of National Quality Improvement Projects, Ellen K. Kerns
Theses & Dissertations
Electronic clinical decision support (ECDS) tools are often developed within quality improvement (QI) projects to increase adherence with the latest clinical practice guidelines. However, the potential reach and maintenance of ECDS use beyond the time and location of their associated project are very limited. Deploying ECDS using a mobile app (mECDS) has shown the potential to be a viable method of overcoming these limitations. However, it is unclear what pattern the reach and adoption of such a tool might follow and what effect this use has on clinical practice. Our team developed an app which contained two different mECDS tools …

In 2016, the AAP released the Family Media Plan: an online tool developed for families to create personalized strategies to manage screen media use.
Objective: While a useful tool, the AAP’s Family Media …

A Characterization Of The Medical-Legal Partnership (Mlp) Of Nebraska Medicine, Jordan Pieper
Capstone Experience
This research study was completed at Legal Aid of Nebraska’s Health, Education, and Law Project through the partnership it has formed working with Nebraska Medicine and Iowa Legal Aid. Traditionally, health and disease have always been viewed exclusively as "healthcare" issues. But with healthcare consistently growing towards holistic approaches to help patients, we now know there are deeper, structural conditions of society that can act as strong driving forces of a person's poor daily living conditions that can negatively impact health. The importance of a Medical-Legal Partnership is that it considers a patient's social determinants of health (SDHs). The goal …
