INTRODUCTION: As new technology advances and the world becomes increasingly connected, medical care and physician-patient interactions have changed. Telemedicine, though present in different forms for many decades, has grown, and its use is changing at a faster-than-ever pace. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the utility of different telemedicine platforms and has led to an expansion in its capabilities.

OBJECTIVES: To explore the evolution of telemedicine, its multiple functions, and how this technology has continued to develop since the COVID-19 pandemic in various medical specialties.

Background: Hands-on culinary medicine education for medical trainees has emerged as a promising tool for cardiovascular health promotion. Purpose: To determine whether virtual culinary medicine programming associates with Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) adherence and lifestyle medicine competencies among medical trainees across the USA. Method: A total of 1433 medical trainees across 19 sites over a 12-month period were included. The Cooking for Health Optimisation with Patients-Medical Trainees survey composed of 61 questions regarding demographics, nutritional attitudes, dietary habits including MedDiet score and lifestyle medicine counselling competencies. Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a severe hyperinflammatory condition characterized by fever, systemic inflammation, and multiorgan dysfunction that manifests late in the course of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). MIS-C generally occurs 2 to 6 weeks after SARS-CoV-2 infection. The incidence of MIS-C is unknown, although it appears to occur in less than 1 percent of children with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. MIS-C has overlapping clinical features of toxic shock syndrome and Kawasaki disease, although the pathogenesis is unclear. The most common host entry point of human adapted coronaviruses (CoV) including SARS-CoV-2 is through the initial colonization in the nostril and mouth region which is responsible for spread of the infection. Most recent studies suggest that the commercially available oral and nasal rinse products are effective in inhibiting the viral replication. During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, we have witnessed profound health inequities suffered by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). These manifested as differential access to testing early in the pandemic, rates of severe disease and death 2-3 times higher than white Americans, and, now, significantly lower vaccine uptake compared with their share of the population affected by COVID-19. Introduction: Up to 60% of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 report anosmia or ageusia during their disease course. “COVID Smell Tracker” is a smart phone application (app) developed to elucidate the onset, duration and extent of anosmia and ageusia through questionnaires.

Methods: “COVID Smell Tracker” is publicly available on smart phone devices (www.covidsmelltracker.org). Users complete surveys around demographics, medical history, COVID status and symptomology. Deidentified responses were collated and analyzed using descriptive statistics.

The accelerated implementation and use of teledermatology during COVID-19 has been met with successes and challenges. This review explores first, how telemedicine was utilized in dermatology prior to the pandemic, the regulatory adaptions made in response to the pandemic and the effectiveness of the rapid implementation of teledermatology during COVID-19, and finally, how teledermatology has expanded in response to the pandemic. In sum, this review examines lessons learned, how teledermatology’s reliance on digital technologies might paradoxically exacerbate healthcare disparities, and considers the future outlook. Emerging outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection is a major threat to public health. The morbidity is increasing due to lack of SARS-CoV-2 specific drugs. Herein, we have identified potential drugs that target the 3-chymotrypsin like protease (3CLpro), the main protease that is pivotal for the replication of SARS-CoV-2. Computational molecular modeling was used to screen 3987 FDA approved drugs, and 47 drugs were selected to study their inhibitory effects on SARS-CoV-2 specific 3CLpro enzyme in vitro. Our results indicate that boceprevir, ombitasvir, paritaprevir, tipranavir, ivermectin, and micafungin exhibited inhibitory effect towards 3CLpro enzymatic activity. The 100 …

Over 100,000 cases of COVID-19 patients infected with the novel coronavirus SARS-COV-2 have been reported worldwide in approximately 2 months, resulting in over 3000 deaths. Potential therapeutic strategies, including remdesivir, chloroquine phosphate, abidol, lopinavir/ritonavir, plasma, antibody, vaccine and stem cells are discussed in this review. The cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related acute cardiac injury with unknown pathophysiologic mechanism has become increasingly prevalent.
