Antiretroviral Drugs-Loaded Nanoparticles Fabricated By Dispersion Polymerization With Potential For Hiv/Aids Treatment, Winston Anderson
Antiretroviral Drugs-Loaded Nanoparticles Fabricated By Dispersion Polymerization With Potential For Hiv/Aids Treatment, Winston Anderson
Department of Biology Faculty Publications
Highly active antiretroviral (ARV) therapy (HAART) for chronic suppression of HIV replication has revolutionized the treatment of HIV/AIDS. HAART is no panacea; treatments must be maintained for life. Although great progress has been made in ARV therapy, HIV continues to replicate in anatomical and intracellular sites where ARV drugs have restricted access. Nanotechnology has been considered a platform to circumvent some of the challenges in HIV/AIDS treatment. Dispersion polymerization was used to fabricate two types (PMM and ECA) of polymeric nanoparticles, and each was successfully loaded with four ARV drugs (zidovudine, lamivudine, nevirapine, and raltegravir), followed by physicochemical characterization: scanning …
Poverty Indicators And Mental Health Functioning Among Adults Living With Hiv In Delhi, India, Ezer Kang
Poverty Indicators And Mental Health Functioning Among Adults Living With Hiv In Delhi, India, Ezer Kang
Department of Psychology Faculty Publications
Poor mental health functioning among persons living with HIV (PLHIV) has gained considerableattention particularly in low-income countries that disproportionately carry the global HIV/AIDSburden. Fewer studies, however, have examined the relationship between poverty indicators andmental health among PHLIV in India. Based on this cross-sectional study of 196 HIV-seropositiveadults who received medical services at Shalom AIDS Project in Delhi, India, structural equationmodeling and mediation analysis were employed to estimate the associations between povertyindices (household asset index, food security, unemployment, water treatment, sanitation), HIVhealthfactors (illness in the past 3 months, co-morbid medical conditions), and psychologicaldistress. In the final model, ownership of fewer household …
Factors Associated With High Rates Of Antiretroviral Medication Adherence Among Youth Living With Perinatal Hiv In Thailand, Ezer Kang
Department of Psychology Faculty Publications
Antiretroviral medication adherence behaviour among Thai youth with perinatal HIV in Thailand has received growingattention. However, few studies have examined individual predictors of antiretroviral adherence using multipleself-reports. A convenience sample of 89 Thai youth (interquartile range 14–16 years) with perinatal HIV at threepaediatric programmes in Chiang Mai completed a structured questionnaire and reported their antiretroviral adherencein the past one, seven and 30 days using count-based recall and a visual analog scale. Mean self-reported adherencerates ranged from 83.5% (past 30 days) to 99.8% (yesterday) of the time. One-inflated beta regression models were usedto examine the associations between antiretroviral adherence outcomes, treatment …
