I completed an eight-week professional sport experience with the Minnesota Twins in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The sport experience consisted of both weekly sessions where our cohort was introduced to 19 guest speakers who hold different roles within the Twins organization and shadowing experience in different departments. My shadowing experiences consisted of guest services, ballpark operations, and ballpark tours. I was able to see first-hand how guest services respond to different situations that occur, such as re-seating guests who were unable to sit in their ticketed seats. The purpose of this study was designed to use the definition of self-efficacy by Bandura (2002) as well as previous research on the topic of self-efficacy to investigate self-reported performance evaluations of professional athletes. The initial literature review included studies that investigated athletes participating in a wide range of sports at different age and experience levels. The parameters and methods of each study differed, but all took a qualitative or mixed methods approach. Based on these previous studies, this study suggested a qualitative approach using a questionnaire based on the Strength Self-Efficacy Scale developed by Tsai et al. (2013). The …

The present study investigated the use of self-selected, synchronous music as an ergogenic aid in workout performance by evaluating measures of heart rate and RPE and participant interviews. Male and female participants (n=9) performed a workout of five exercises (bicep curl, military press, wide stance leg press, leg extension, and tricep kickback), under three different music conditions (when listening to self-selected, synchronous music, when listening to researcher-selected synchronous music, or when listening to a metronome set at 120 bpm). Specifically, collegiate athletes may feel uncomfortable, or uncertain seeking out resources to assess their overall mental health. Cross-sectional analysis of data from the Recharge@Work study was used to assess individual, interpersonal and organizational correlates of objectively- measured sedentary time, in desk-dependent office workers at 2 U.S. hospitals. Analysis included 65 participants (62 females and ~49.2 years old). Sedentary time was assessed by accelerometry across five consecutive days and expressed as prolonged sedentary bouts (60 min ≤ 150 cpm). Correlates measured a baseline included: age, BMI, active break enjoyment, active break outcome expectancy, active break self-efficacy, active break social support, direct supervisor support of active breaks and senior manager support of active breaks.
