Background/aim: Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs) are direct communications between the branches of pulmonary arteries and veins. This study evaluates surgically treated cases of pulmonary arteriovenous malformations. Materials and methods: We retrospectively examined 41 cases of PAVM that were operated in our clinic between 1995 and 2012. We obtained the clinical, radiological, and surgical data of the patients from their files. Results: The 41 cases comprised 27 males and 14 females. Background/aim: This study aimed to compare the levonorgestrel intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) with abdominal hysterectomy (TAH) and total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) as first-line treatments for heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB). Materials and methods: Ninety-eight patients aged 20-55 years who complained of regular heavy menstrual bleeding were enrolled in the study. The TAH group included 29 patients, the LNG-IUS group included 34, and the TLH group included 35. These groups were compared in terms of quality of life and the cost-effectiveness of the selected methods. Background/aim: We evaluated the existing risk factors with clinical results in patients who underwent major and minor amputation of the lower extremity as a result of diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs). Background/aim: Diffuse large B-cell primary gastric lymphomas (DLBC-PGLs) are treated with different therapies. Their optimal treatment is not well documented. Materials and methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of 51 patients diagnosed with DLBC-PGL in the previous 10 years. All patients were treated with R-CHOP as first line. Radiotherapy was added to chemotherapy in 8 patients. Surgery was performed in 5 patients. Results: The median follow-up time of the 51 patients was 45.5 (range 5-144) months and the complete response (CR) rate was 90.2%. Background/aim: This study presents the joint experience of three centers in the treatment of patients with biliary tract tumors with radiation therapy (RT). Materials and methods: The records of 27 patients were retrospectively reviewed. All of the patients who had undergone surgical resection received postoperative adjuvant RT, whereas all of the patients who had not undergone a surgical resection received RT with palliative intent. Twenty patients with adequate performance status were treated with RT and chemotherapy, while the remaining seven patients were treated with RT alone. Results: Follow-up ranged from 1 to 44 months.
