Walking Club
The SWOSU Walking Club is meeting every MWF, 12:10 pm, at the Wellness Center. Fit exercising into your workday with a 30-40-minute walk and receive the benefits of social support, stress relief, and renewed energy.

6:00-8:00 a.m. 12:00-2:00 p.m.
5:00-7:00 p.m. (except Tuesday)

Water Aerobics
Monday-Wednesday 6:00–7:00 p.m.

SWOSU Rural Health Center will be offering the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) again for those with prediabetes or at high risk for type 2 diabetes starting in September. The program has proven to cut the risk for type 2 diabetes in half. Background

During the 2017-2018 academic year, a large private medical college underwent a complete transformation of its curriculum from a primarily lecture based, traditional format to an integrated, longitudinal format that included both time limited blocks and longitudinal threads of content. Wellness, conceptualized at both wellness of the provider and the patient, is one of the eight threads.

Vermont currently has the second oldest population in the country and the elderly population is continuing to increase. Senior citizens define aging successfully as having good health, strong friendships, and being able to participate in activities. In order to meet the needs of seniors it is important to find ways to better connect them with available community resources. The aim of this project was to create a pamphlet of community resources available to seniors in Franklin County, Vermont to aid in connecting them to community involvement and support.

Physician burnout has increased over the past decade and continues to increase each year. Patients with high levels of medical and social complexity can be difficult to manage and when standard treatments fail it is often difficult to know what to do next. This project aimed to address the presence of both physician burnout and the effect it can have on the care of patients and particularly the most complex ones. A list of resources for complex patient management and physician self care was compiled and presented for physicians at Berlin Family Practice.

Vermont's elderly population (>65 years old) is growing rapidly- by 2032, almost 25% of the VT population will be >65. 90% of seniors in VT wish to age in place in their homes. Healthcare providers in VT could play an integral role in connecting seniors who are looking to remain active and involved in their community to resources. Older adults who are connected have a higher level of functional health and increased life satisfaction.
