Analysis Of Adolescent Malnutrition On Oral Health: A Systematic Review, Amy Blazejewski

This review aimed to explore the relationship between malnutrition and oral health in adolescents.

A literature search in PubMed, Dentistry & Oral Sciences Source, Scopus, and Web of Science was conducted on September 13th, 2023. Peer-reviewed articles written in English and published from 2013 containing information on the negative impact of adolescent malnutrition on oral health were considered eligible for review. From the 594 studies obtained from the literature search, 88 studies were included.

This study aims to underscore the necessity for a comprehensive interpretation of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) volume images obtained by dentists. The research demonstrates and quantifies potentially overlooked dental pathology, categorizing incidental findings into three groups: 1) requiring some form of treatment or follow-up, 2) necessitating follow-up (monitoring) only, and 3) demanding no further treatment or follow-up.

This literature review investigates the dentofacial consequences of radiotherapy in young patients with retinoblastoma by referencing current research. In addition, the management and rehabilitation of the dentofacial abnormalities, highlighting orthodontic, surgical, and prosthetic approaches, is examined. By understanding the changes of dentofacial development due to retinoblastoma treatment, effective management techniques can be implemented to resolve significant issues, relating to dental and skeletal relationship and facial appearance.

Cleft Lip and Palate patients are some of the most vulnerable and complex orthodontic patients. They face a myriad of health challenges including psychological, nutritional, auditory, speech, airway, skeletal, and dental. Ideal comprehensive treatment for CLP patients is provided via multidisciplinary teams of healthcare providers. However, there is currently limited access to proper multidisciplinary care for CLP patients in the US, partly due to lack of education regarding available resources. Background: It is well-established that healthcare disparities exist in the LGBTQIA+ community. The divide is a growing concern exacerbated by recent changes in the healthcare and sociopolitical climate. To eliminate this divide and find ways to deliver better outcomes to the LGBTQIA+ is a dire need. This report analyzes the possible reasons from the community as well as the providers perspective, with a goal to find best practices that could be implemented in both components.

Introduction

Many studies have investigated the association between vitamin D and cardiovascular disease (CVD), but literature has shown various results. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of vitamin D in CVD.

Data source

The data were obtained from the 2015-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey database and included adults aged 20 years and older with a history of CVD. Abstract:

Background. In the United States, when an individual is bitten by an animal there are many levels of care they may seek, including seeing their primary care provider, an urgent care provider, or by going to an emergency room. In any of these settings, it is not unlikely that they may be treated by an advanced practice practitioner (APP). Due to rabies being nearly 100% fatal once symptoms have manifested, it is important to understand the knowledge that APPs have concerning rabies.

Background

Genetic analysis has become the mainstay of forensic identification protocols. Oral fluids including saliva are invariably present in crime and disaster scenarios; their availability probably exceeding that of conventional sources like blood. Due to the intrinsic nature of fluids, the substrates may be degraded due to time delay and environmental exposure. Therefore, a review of the reliability and practicality of saliva in forensic analysis is warranted.
