Food provider at university is one of places that needs to implement standards of food hygiene and sanitation (FHS). This study aimed to evaluate and analyze practices of FHS based on Regulation of Health Minister No. 1098 of 2003 and best practices in six food providers at University X. This study used mixed method evaluation with sequential explanatory design through two stages. Stage I was in forms of assessment on six food providers, food handlers and laboratory examination on food and beverage samples as well as on eating utensils. Looking Back, Moving Forward: Lessons Learnt From Accreditation Of Post Graduate Occupational Hygiene Courses, Jane L. Whitelaw, Sue Reed
Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences - Papers (Archive)
For many years AIOH has had a systematic method for reviewing and accrediting post graduate Occupational Hygiene Courses. Applying institutions would submit a range of course documentation which was then reviewed by a panel under the auspices of the Education Committee. During 2010, the Education Committee developed a set of Learning Outcomes (LO’s) for Universities applying for accreditation to map their course against prior to applying. Whilst the system in place has served AIOH well and produced good Graduate outcomes; the inclusion of LO’s will enable a more transparent and objective evaluation of courses. In a recent study trip; the …

Increasing awareness of emergency horse diseases, their management in Western Australia and practical strategies to minimise the risk of spreading disease. Determination Of Microbial Contamination Sources At A Frankfurter Sausage Processing Line, Ebru Güngör, Nalan Gökoğlu
Determination Of Microbial Contamination Sources At A Frankfurter Sausage Processing Line, Ebru Güngör, Nalan Gökoğlu
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
This study was conducted to determine microbial contamination sources during sausage processing. The samples were taken at 6 different stages of the sausage processing line in a local plant. Minced meat, sausage batter, stuffed sausage, cooked sausage, peeled sausage, and pasteurized sausage samples were examined microbiologically. Moreover, spices and ice water used in production, personnel hands, and equipment were examined. Counts of total aerobic mesophilic bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, yeasts, and molds in minced meat were found to be 7.02, 3.83, 4.42, and 1.62 log cfu/g, respectively. E. coli and yeast-mold counts in sausage batter reached 3.99 and 1.72 …

A Study On The Microbiological Quality Of Industrial Ice-Cream, Kami̇l Bostan, Bahar Akin
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
In this study, a total of 300 packaged ice-creams (100 extrude, 100 stick and 100 cornet type) were taken from an industrial ice-cream plant and analysed microbiologically. The hygienic conditions of the same plant were also investigated. In terms of microbiological quality, no significant differences were determined among the ice-cream types. Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were not isolated in any of ice-cream samples. The average counts of aerobic mesophil bacteria, coliform and mould-yeast were 8.8x10^2-2.5x10^3 cfu/g, 0.3-0.6 MPN/g and

Udder Preparation For Milking, W G. Robinson
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
REGULAR routine methods of preparing the udder for milking hare long been recognised as essential for good "let down" of milk.

An Inquiry Into The Influence Of Environment On The Incidence Of Poultry Diseases, L. Van Es, J. F. Olney
Historical Research Bulletins of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station
The principal purpose of the investigation reported here was to evaluate, if possible, hygienic measures, and in addition to gather whatever information might become available pertaining to the relation of certain disorders to a given poultry population after its exposure to their specific etiologic factors. The experiments were conducted on a piece of ground upon which poultry had not been maintained for many years, if ever.
