Effect Of Oocyte Quality And Activation Protocols On Bovine Embryo Development Following Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection, Ömer Korkmaz, Şükrü Küplülü, Yüksel Ağca, İbrahi̇m Mert Polat

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of oocyte quality and activation protocols on the in vitro developmental competence of bovine embryos after intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Bovine oocytes were grouped as being of excellent, good, and poor quality. All of the oocytes were activated using a calcium ionophore only, ethanol only, and 6-dimethylaminopurine (6-DMAP) following calcium ionophore. For the excellent quality oocytes, cleavage rates after ICSI were 70% in the Ca ionophore + 6-DMAP activation group, 47% in the ethanol activation group, 41.82% in the Ca ionophore group, and 30% in the nontreated control group. Cleavage …

Effect Of Pre-Evisceration, Skin-On Carcass Decontamination Sanitation Strategies For Reducing Bacterial Contamination Of Cattle During Skinning, Mehmet Çalicioğlu, Dennis R. Buege, John B. Luchansky Jan 2010

Effect Of Pre-Evisceration, Skin-On Carcass Decontamination Sanitation Strategies For Reducing Bacterial Contamination Of Cattle During Skinning, Mehmet Çalicioğlu, Dennis R. Buege, John B. Luchansky

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The effectiveness of pre-evisceration, skin-on carcass sanitation on reducing bacterial contamination of beef carcasses was tested using 3 cattle per treatment and 3 cattle as controls at each of 3 abattoirs in southern Wisconsin. The sanitation procedure included stunning, bleeding, tying off the esophagus, sealing the anus, and then sanitizing the hide with: i) 20% trisodium phosphate, ii) 200 ppm iodophor, iii) 75% ethanol, or iv) hot water (ca. 80 °C). Two sets of combined sponge samples (3 × 100 cm^2) were taken from the hide before and after the sanitation step, as well as from the carcass after the …

The Treatment Of Experimental Acute Ethylene Glycol (Antifreeze) Toxication Using 4-Methyl Pyrazol And Ethanol In Dogs, Vehbi̇ Güneş, Çeti̇nkaya Şendi̇l Jan 2004

The Treatment Of Experimental Acute Ethylene Glycol (Antifreeze) Toxication Using 4-Methyl Pyrazol And Ethanol In Dogs, Vehbi̇ Güneş, Çeti̇nkaya Şendi̇l

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The effects of ethanol and 4-methyl pyrazole were investigated in the treatment of 30 dogs toxicated with antifreeze (AF). The AF toxication produced significant increases in blood urea, creatinin and potassium and a decrease in blood calcium levels. Calcium-oxalate monohydrate, which is pathognomic for AF toxication, was consistently seen in urine sediment. Ethanol was rarely effective on the multisystemic effects that occurred in dogs or ADH inhibition. CNS findings were also observed after ethanol administration. The results indicated that 4-MP treatment provided earlier and safer healing than ethanol. It was deduced that 4-MP + NaHCO_3 was more effective than ethanol …

The Effects Of Orally Ethanol Treatment On Serum, Liver And Kidney\Gamma-Gt, Alt And Ast Enzymes Activity And Serum Total Cholesterol And Lipid Levels In Rats, Ayla Özcan, Ahmet Mengi̇ Jan 1998

The Effects Of Orally Ethanol Treatment On Serum, Liver And Kidney\Gamma-Gt, Alt And Ast Enzymes Activity And Serum Total Cholesterol And Lipid Levels In Rats, Ayla Özcan, Ahmet Mengi̇

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In this study, some blood, liver and kidney parameters of rats which were given alcohol orally were investigated at the end of 1st, 7th, 14th and 21st days. Forty male Wistar Albino rats (mean 196 g), 20 wk of age, were used as materials. Serum AST and \gamma-GT activities at the end of 1st day were significantly different between control and experimental groups from 40 rats studied. At the end of 7th, 14th and 21st days, the difference between two groups for AST and \gamma-GT activities in serum and liver were significant (p
