Jurnal Keolahragaan

The aim of this study was: (1) to develop an appropriate circuit training program for biomotor improvement that supports Teng Kong Bai Lian (TKBL), (2) to examine the feasibility of biomotor improvement that supports TKBL, and (3) to examine training program effectivity. This study is a kind of Research and Development through several procedures, such as observation and data collection, planning, program development, expert validation, initial program revision, small scale trial, large scale trial, operational program revision, effectivity test, and completion program, and training program implementation. Instrument of this study consist of observation, questionnaire for expert validation, test and measurement …

Improving Leg Power And Dolyo Chagi Kick Speed In Taekwondo Using Plyometric, Saq, And Circuit Training Methods, Muhammad Kharis Fajar, Afif Rusdiawan, Muhammad Labib Siena Ar Rasyid

Jurnal Keolahragaan

This study aimed to determine the effect of giving three different exercise methods (Plyometric, SAQ, and Traning Circuit) on increasing leg muscle power and dolyo chagi kick speed in taekwondo athletes. The research design used pre and post design with a total of 18 Unesa student taekwondo athletes as research subjects. The subjects were divided into three groups (PLY, SAQ, and ST) consisting of 6 athletes each. The PLY group performs plyometric; The SAQ group performs Speed, Agility, and Quickness; and the ST Group performs circuit training. Interventions were given to each group with 18 meetings with a frequency of …

"You're Not Thriving, You're Just Trying To Survive The Environment That You're In:" Mental Performance Consultants' Narratives Of Emotional Abuse In Sport, Victoria Lynn Bradshaw

Doctoral Dissertations

Emotional abuse is defined as “a pattern of deliberate non-contact behaviors by a person with a critical relationship that has the potential to be harmful” (Stirling & Kerr, 2008, p. 178). Specifically, in the context of sport, emotional abuse is one of the more frequently occurring forms of abuse (Kavanagh, Brown & Jones, 2017; Kirby, Greaves & Hankvisky, 2000; Wilson & Kerr, 2021). Years after the termination of those emotionally abusive experiences, athletes are left to try and cope with and manage the short and long-term impacts that tend to develop as a result of repeated exposure to harmful behaviors …

Two Different Approaches To Dry-Land Training Do Not Improve The Water Performance Of Swimmers, Matheus Silva Norberto, Carlos Augusto Kalva-Filho, Guilherme Navarro Schneider, Eduardo Zapaterra Campos, Marcelo Papoti Jun 2023

Two Different Approaches To Dry-Land Training Do Not Improve The Water Performance Of Swimmers, Matheus Silva Norberto, Carlos Augusto Kalva-Filho, Guilherme Navarro Schneider, Eduardo Zapaterra Campos, Marcelo Papoti

International Journal of Exercise Science

International Journal of Exercise Science 16(6): 770-790, 2023. Literature diverges about the performance improvement after dry-land training. Thus, the objective of the present study was to compare the effect of two models of dry-land training. Twenty-nine swimmers were divided into three groups, combined strength and power training (PTG), only strength training (STG), and a control group (CG). Measurements were taken for six weeks, before dry-land exposure (M1), after four weeks of specific training with exposure to dry-land training by two groups (M2), and after two weeks of taper without exposure to dry-land training (M3). Strength in specific exercises, jumping tests, …

The Effect Of Joint Versus Soft Tissue Flossing On Overall Performance In The Lower Extremities, Emily Bray May 2023

The Effect Of Joint Versus Soft Tissue Flossing On Overall Performance In The Lower Extremities, Emily Bray

Undergraduate Theses and Capstone Projects

Effective warm-up routines result in a reduction in muscle soreness post-exercise, a lessened risk of injury, and an enhanced performance output ability. Existing research has shown promising effects of muscle tissue flossing, a novel method of warming up in which a latex band is used to apply pressure to a specific area in the body. The purpose of this study was to determine how active college students respond to flossing applied to both a joint as well as soft tissue in the lower extremities, focusing on the ankle joint and calf muscle. Floss bands were applied bilaterally for each of …

Longitudinal Sport Science Implementation In American Collegiate Men’S Basketball, Jason Stone Jan 2023

Longitudinal Sport Science Implementation In American Collegiate Men’S Basketball, Jason Stone

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports

The expanding opportunities to implement sport science frameworks in elite-level basketball environments coincide with the sport’s increasing global prominence. Concomitant to these opportunities is the continual growth of the sport technology market (e.g., wearables, force plates) and computational power (e.g., data management tools, coding capabilities), which yields solutions and challenges for both athletes and practitioners. Due to the rapid influx of new sport technologies in high performance environments, particularly American Collegiate Men’s Basketball, more formal and ecologically valid research on how to effectively utilize data derived from them, particularly over long periods of time (i.e., multiple seasons) is needed. To …
