Functions And Applications Of Critical Zone Observatory Of Luancheng Agro-Ecosystem Experimental Station, Chinese Academy Of Sciences (Luancheng Critical Zone Observatory), Yanjun Shen, Leilei Min, Lin Wu, Yan-Jun Shen, Hongjun Li, Guanglu Zhang Apr 2021

Functions And Applications Of Critical Zone Observatory Of Luancheng Agro-Ecosystem Experimental Station, Chinese Academy Of Sciences (Luancheng Critical Zone Observatory), Yanjun Shen, Leilei Min, Lin Wu, Yan-Jun Shen, Hongjun Li, Guanglu Zhang

Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Chinese Version)

The Luancheng Agro-Ecosystem Experimental Station, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is located in the piedmont plain area of North China Plain and the middle section of the Taihang Mountain alluvial plain. It is a typical representative of the high-yield agricultural eco-system in the groundwater irrigation area. Due to the large-scale and high-intensity agricultural production in recent decades, the regional groundwater has been seriously over exploited, and the risk of groundwater pollution has increased. However, the surface agro-ecosystem and aquifer are separated by thick vadose zones, hence the mechanism of the impact of surface agricultural activities on the quantity and quality …

Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Chinese Version)

The structure regulation and function optimizations of forest-ecosystems are fundamental and significant topics on ecology & management of forests. However, due to the limitations in theories and technologies to describe the three-dimensional forest structure for complex terrain and to precisely evaluate the structure-associated functions, these topics have been challenged by the complications in canopy structure and the urgencies in various societal demands towards forest ecosystem services. To face against the challenge, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) funded the "Multi-tower Platform for Monitoring the Structure and Function of Temperate Secondary Forest Ecosystems" (Qingyuan Ker Towers) as a corner-stone research infrastructure project …

Factors Affecting Outbreaks And Prevention And Control Strategies Of Wildlife Infectious Diseases, Zhibin Zhang Feb 2021

Factors Affecting Outbreaks And Prevention And Control Strategies Of Wildlife Infectious Diseases, Zhibin Zhang

Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Chinese Version)

Recently, wildlife infectious diseases have become a more and more serious problem in the world which imposes a big threat to bio-safety and eco-safety of worldwide. Accelerated climate change and human activities are key driving forces in causing more frequent occurrences of wildlife infectious diseases. Climate change could create favorable conditions for large-scale outbreak or invasion of wildlife infectious diseases by altering range shift or habitat of wildlife infectious diseases or their host/vectors. Human disturbance increases interspecific transmission of pathogens across people, wild and domestic animals, as well as their spread velocity facilitated by the modern transportation systems, and then …

High-Precision Superconducting Gravimetric Observations And Investigations Provide National Surveying And Mapping And Earth’S Dynamics With Theoretical Fundamentals, Heping Sun, Jiangcun Zhou, Jianqiao Xu, Xiaodong Chen, Xiang'e Lei, Xiaoming Cui, Xiaowei Niu Feb 2021

High-Precision Superconducting Gravimetric Observations And Investigations Provide National Surveying And Mapping And Earth’S Dynamics With Theoretical Fundamentals, Heping Sun, Jiangcun Zhou, Jianqiao Xu, Xiaodong Chen, Xiang'e Lei, Xiaoming Cui, Xiaowei Niu

Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Chinese Version)

Since 1985, about 35-year high-precision gravity data have been being well accumulated and worldwide cooperation was effectively carried out. The unique international tidal gravity reference in Asia was established. The background noise model for low frequency in Chinese continent was constructed. A global experimental model and an accurate correction model in Chinese continent for gravity tides of the Earth were both constructed. The theoretical simulation of the effect of surface mass loading on gravity was improved. The signals related to the nearly diurnal resonance, Earth’s free oscillation and translational wobble of the Earth’s inner core were detected to investigate the …

Thoughts On Future Development Of Field Observation And Research Network Of Chinese Academy Of Sciences, Ping Yang Jan 2021

Thoughts On Future Development Of Field Observation And Research Network Of Chinese Academy Of Sciences, Ping Yang

Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Chinese Version)

Acting as a distributed field science and technology infrastructure, the field station network of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has evolved to be an important scientific and technological infrastructure with comparative advantage in China. Especially, the Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN) leads the construction and development of the national ecosystem station network. The top-level design and overall layout have been paid more attention in the construction of the field scientific observation and research network of CAS during the 14th Five-Year Plan, and the orientation and objectives of the field station network is highlighted further. The main tasks include improving the …
