Notes On The Nests Of Augochloropsis Metallica Fulgida And Megachile Mucida In Central Michigan (Hymenoptera: Halictidae, Megachilidae), Jason Gibbs
The Great Lakes Entomologist
Notes on the nesting biology of two ground-nesting species are provided from Central Michigan. A single nest of Augochloropsis metallica fulgida was excavated on 12 July 2014 in Shiawassee County. There were two female nest inhabitants. Examination of mandibular wear, wing wear and ovarial development suggests one female was acting as a worker caste. Also, a nesting aggregation of Megachile mucida was observed in Ingham County. Information on nest architecture and cell construction is based on excavations of several nests during 7–15 June 2014. Megachile mucida is recorded as a new host species for the cleptoparasite Coelioxys sodalis. This is …

Resaca Supports Range Expansion Of Invasive Apple Snails (Pomacea Maculata Perry, 1810; Caenogastropoda: Ampullariidae) To The Rio Grande Valley, Texas, Kathryn E. Perez, Victoria Garcia Gamboa, Caitlin M. Schneider, Romi L. Burks
Biology Faculty Publications and Presentations
Resacas, or oxbow lakes, form from old river channels. In the Rio Grande, resacas provide habitat for diverse wildlife, including native and non-native species. Biologists unexpectedly found pink egg masses on emergent vegetation (November 2015) and later adult apple snails (May 2016) within a resaca at a former fish hatchery in Brownsville, Texas. This report extends the non-native range of Pomacea maculata Perry, 1810 by 429 km southeast in Texas. Our findings imply that abandoned waterbodies, such as fish hatcheries, can act as unrecognized conduits for non-native invasive species.

Updated Checklist Of Odonata Fauna In The Turkish Thrace Region, With Additional Records Of New, Rare, And Threatened Taxa, Nurten Hacet
Turkish Journal of Zoology
A new record for the Odonata from Turkish Thrace, Lindenia tetraphylla (Vander Linden, 1825), and its heterofamilial heterosexual tandem with a female of Orthetrum albistylum (Selys, 1848) are reported. This finding increases the species number in the region to 56. The current species list of the region based on unpublished records and available literature is presented. Five species are listed at subspecies levels in the region and the controversial subspecies status of some species is summarized. Additional records of rare species based on specimens collected in the region between 2001 and 2015 are provided and their distributions and threat statuses …

Research On Alleculinae (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae: Alleculinae) Intugai Forests Of The Almaty Region In Kazakhstan Using Window Traps, Oto Nakladal, Vladimir Novak, Yuliya Kolesnichenko
Turkish Journal of Zoology
We used 140 passive flight interception window traps for survey of alleculines in tugai forests of the Almaty region in Kazakhstan. Traps were set on Fraxinus sogdiana (Bunge, 1854), Populus diversifolia (Schrenk, 1842), P. pruinosa (Schrenk, 1845), and Elaeagnus angustifolia (Linnaeus, 1753), which are the main tree species of tugai forests. Two species of alleculines were captured: Mycetochara flavipes (Fabricius, 1792) and Steneryx dejeani (Faldermann, 1836). Mycetochara flavipes significantly prefers areas of the tugai forests with dominancy of Elaeagnus angustifolia. Faunistic data for both species are given. Mycetochara flavipes was recorded as a new species and genus for the territory …
