Abstract
The South American genus Anomiopsoides Blackwelder is revised and now includes five species: A. aurita (Burmeister), A. biloba (Burmeister), A. catamarcae Martínez, A. cavifrons (Burmeister), and A. heteroclyta (Blanchard). The following species names are new synonyms of A. heteroclyta (Blanchard): A. aberrans Martínez, A. pereirai (Martínez), and A. xerophila Martínez. The following variety is a new synonym of A. biloba (Burmeister): A. biloba var. schaeferi (Martínez). Descriptions, diagnosis illustrations, and distribution maps are provided for all species. A key to species of the genus is provided. The biology and the food relocation behavior of Anomiopsoides species are described. A …

The purpose of this application, under Article 23.9.3 of the Code, is to conserve the names of two well-established genera of cetoniine scarab beetles, Stegopterus Burmeister & Schaum, 1840 and Trichiotinus Casey, 1915. Stegopterus Burmeister & Schaum is a junior synonym of Tetrophthalmus Kirby, 1827 and Trichiotinus Casey a junior synonym of Trichinus Kirby, 1827. The two junior names are in prevailing use and it is proposed that they be conserved by suppression of both Kirby's names.

We examined 96 museum specimens belonging to 14 species of Carnivora from the Mexican State of Puebla. In addition, four species were documented based on literature records and by indirect evidence. The carnivorous mammals of Puebla belong to 5 families, 18 genera, 18 species and 23 subspecies. Eight of these 23 taxa are reported herein for the first time from the state of Puebla. Of the 18 species, Herpailurus yagouaroundi, Lontra longicaudis, Taxidea taxus, and Galictis vittata are considered by Norma Oficial Mexicana as threatened species, Leopardus wiedii and Eira barbara in danger of extinction, and Potos flavus is …

A review and assessment of biological information as well as personal data are provided for Polygonum aviculare in Canada. The species has been revised taxonomically and the six subspecies that occur in Canada are presented. Three of the subspecies, P. aviculare subsp. aviculare, P. aviculare subsp. neglectum and P. aviculare subsp. depressum are weeds introduced to Canada from Europe. A fourth subspecies, P. aviculare subsp. buxiforme is apparently native to North America. The geographical distribution of the latter four subspecies is very wide. Seventeen species are recognized including two species described as new: Ataenius ecruensis sp. nov. from the United States and A. oaxacaensis sp. nov. from Mexico. The midcontinental population of sandhill crane (Grus canadensis) includes about 500,000 birds and provides valuable recreational crane-watching and hunting opportunities in Canada and the United States. It comprises three subspecies, one of which (G. c. rowani) was of uncertain taxonomic status and another of which (G. c. tabida) merited protection from excessive harvest due to its small population size. Taxonomical states and the distribution of 40 Telescopus fallax specimens collected from various regions of Turkey over the past 35 years were evaluated. Information relating to a female Vipera barani and its 2 male juveniles, which were collected 35 km south of the provincial capital Adapazarı is presented. Biological information regarding the latter species is provided for the first time.

A revision of Pocadius Erichson (Coleoptera: Nitidulidae) was completed. A total of 46 species were (re)described, including 25 new species, a key to species constructed, and phylogenetic analysis performed. Taxonomic changes, including nomenclatural emendations, reinstatement of species, and description of new taxa, within this dissertation do not constitute formal changes as defined by the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. Illustrations of the genitalia, key characters, and dorsal habitus of species are provided. The phylogeny demonstrates a monophyletic Pocadius. The phylogeny suggests a Palearctic origin of the genus with subsequent speciation into the Old World tropics and New World. Host specialization …

Macrofungi samples recorded in this study were collected from different localities in Balıkesir province from 1998 to 2001. As a result of the field and laboratory studies, 4 taxa belonging to 4 families were recorded for the first time in Turkey. These are Hebeloma mesophaeum (Pers.) Fr. var. lacteum Vesterh., Lepiota griseovirens Maire, Lactarius violascens (J.Otto) Fr., and Melanoleuca griseofumosa Secr. ex Singer & Clémençon.
