Effects Of Fe Dosage In Newborn Pigs On Preweaning And Subsequent Nursery Performance, H. Williams, J. C. Woodworth, J. M. Derouchey, S. S. Dritz, M. D. Tokach, R. D. Goodband, A. Holtcamp

Kansas Agricultural Experiment Station Research Reports

A total of 336 newborn pigs (DNA 241 × 600, initially 3.83 ± 0.114 lb BW) were used in a 63-d study evaluating the effects of increasing injectable Fe dose on preweaning and subsequent nursery pig performance and blood Fe status. GleptoForte (Ceva Animal Health, LLC, Lenexa, KS) contains gleptoferron which is an Fe macro-molecule complex that is used as an injectable Fe source for preweaned piglets. A total of 28 litters were used and on the day of processing (approximately d 3 after birth) all piglets were weighed and six barrows and six gilts per litter were allotted to …

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of supplementation ofBacillus subtilisC- 3102 on sow performance and fecal microflora and on progeny growth performance, fecal consistency, and fecal microflora. For the sow portion of this study, a total of 29 sows (DNA 241, DNA Genetics, Columbus, NE) and litters were used from d 30 of gestation until weaning (d 19 of lactation). Treatments consisted of providing a control diet (n = 14 sows) or a probiotic diet (n = 15 sows) supplemented withBacillussubtilisC-3102 (Calsporin®, Calpis Co. Ltd., Tokyo, Japan) at 500,000 CFU/g of …

A total of 324 newborn pigs (DNA 241 × 600, initially 3.56 ± 0.10 lb body weight (BW)) were used in a 80-d study evaluating the effects of Fe injection timing after birth on suckling and subsequent nursery pig performance and blood criteria. GleptoForte (Ceva Animal Health, LLC., Lenexa, KS) contains gleptoferron, which is an Fe macromolecule complex that is used as an injectable Fe source for suckling piglets. A total of 27 litters were used with the number of pigs per sow equalized on each day of farrowing. Two d after birth, all piglets were weighed, and six barrows …

Effects Of Feeding Increasing Levels Of Iron From Iron Sulfate Or Iron Carbonate On Nursery Pig Growth Performance And Blood Criteria, H. E. Williams, J. C. Woodworth, J. M. Derouchey, S. S. Dritz, M. D. Tokach, R. D. Goodband, J. Usry Jan 2018

Kansas Agricultural Experiment Station Research Reports

A total of 140 weanling pigs (DNA 241 × 600, initially 12.2 ± 0.02 lb) were used in a 32-d study evaluating the effects of increasing dietary iron from either iron sulfate (FeSO4) or a micronized, agglomerated ferrous carbonate (FeCO3) on nursery pig growth performance and blood criteria. The micronized form of FeCO3is designed to improve nursery pig growth performance and blood iron status. Pigs used for this trial did not receive an iron injection after birth in order to increase sensitivity to added dietary iron. Pigs were weaned at approximately 21 d and …
