This is a digitally created scrapbook featuring vineyard planting and construction of the Mt. Hood Winery hospitality venue. The planting of the vineyard began in 2002, with the hospitality venue opening in July 2009. Members of the Bickford and Stehlik families are featured throughout in the photographs. Mt. Hood Winery, the vineyard, and the hospitality venue are all located in Hood River, Oregon.

Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) is becoming a common tool in the practice of biomedical research and the future of how medicine will be practiced. To keep up with the explosion in new NGS experiments and the growing need in data analysis, we identified bottlenecks of our NGS data analysis workflow, evaluated and tested feasibility of solutions. To address main bottlenecks we incorporated two solutions into our

workflow: (1) Globus Genomics, a well-maintained cloud based sequencing data analysis framework which leverage advanced tools and data management, and (2) GenomAnalytics from GenomOncology, an interactive platform for data integration, annotation, filtering an interpretation. …

Research poster describing UNE's Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences (CEN) K-12 outreach program. Founded in 2009 with three main areas of focus—research, scholarship and community outreach—CEN includes over 40 faculty members affiliated with neuroscience research and/or education. The Neuroscience Outreach Program was established in 2009 with the goal of bringing fun, interactive neuroscience lessons to schools to engage students in learning about neuroscience. UNE undergraduate and professional students present the lessons in classrooms with support from UNE faculty and staff.

At its best, a university is a collection of individuals ‐‐ students and faculty ‐‐ focused on learning and discovering new knowledge. For this goal to be realized, a critical element is having faculty members deeply engaged in such discovery within their disciplines. Scholarship, in the form of journal articles, book chapters, monographs and similar endeavors, creative activity which can take an even wider range of forms, and funded research which explores the boundaries of disciplines all contribute to such engagement.
