Helminth Parasites Of The Lemon-Yellow Tree Frog, Hyla Savignyi (Hylidae), From Turkey, Hi̇kmet Sami̇ Yildirimhan, Nurhan Sümer, Sezen İncedoğan, Charles Robert Bursey

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Forty lemon-yellow tree frogs, Hyla savignyi, collected from Kırıkhan, Turkey (25 in April 2009, 15 in April 2010), were examined for helminths, and 21 frogs were found to be infected. One species of Monogenea (Polystoma integerrimum), 3 species of Digenea (Diplodiscus subclavatus, Halipegus kessleri, and Pleurogenoides medians), 1 species of Cestoda (Nematotaenia dispar), and 2 species of Nematoda (Aplectana brumpti and Cosmocerca commutata) were found. Hyla savignyi represents a new host record for Polystoma integerrimum, Diplodiscus subclavatus, Halipegus kessleri, Pleurogenoides medians, Aplectana brumpti, and Cosmocerca commutata.

Revision Of Graecoanatolica (Gastropoda: Hydrobiidae) Species In Turkey, Ümi̇t Kebapçi, Seval Bahadir Koca, Mehmet Zeki̇ Yildirim Jan 2012

Revision Of Graecoanatolica (Gastropoda: Hydrobiidae) Species In Turkey, Ümi̇t Kebapçi, Seval Bahadir Koca, Mehmet Zeki̇ Yildirim

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Graecoanatolica Radoman, 1973 is a remarkable genus of Hydrobiidae, recognized with its disjunct distribution between Macedonia, Greece (Thessaly), and Turkey (Lakes Region). However, the current distribution of the genus is restricted to Turkey, as the 2 Balkan species have been declared extinct. In this study, a taxonomic revision of the Graecoanatolica species in Turkey is presented. Among 6 previously recognized species, G. conica Radoman, 1973 and G. brevis Radoman, 1973 from the provinces of Denizli and Burdur are determined to be extinct. G. anatolica (Schütt, 1965) comb. nov. is transferred to the genus and G. dinarica sp. nov. is described …

Nematode Parasites Of Lyciasalamandra Atifi And L. Fazilae (Caudata: Salamandridae) From Turkey, Hi̇kmet Sami̇ Yildirimhan, Mustafa Yavuz, Mehmet Öz, Charles Robert Bursey

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Fifteen Lyciasalamandra atifi and 14 L. fazilae from Antalya Province, Turkey, were examined for helminths. Three species of nematodes, Rhabdias bermani, Aplectana acuminata, and Cosmocerca longicauda, were found in L. atifi and 2 species, Aplectana linstowi and Cosmocerca longicauda, were found in L. fazilae. L. atifi represents a new host record for each of the 3 species of nematodes reported; L. fazilae represents a new host record for each of the 2 species of nematodes reported.

A New Freshwater Amphipod Species, Gammarus Obruki Sp. Nov., From Turkey (Amphipoda: Gammaridae), Murat Özbek Jan 2012

A New Freshwater Amphipod Species, Gammarus Obruki Sp. Nov., From Turkey (Amphipoda: Gammaridae), Murat Özbek

Turkish Journal of Zoology

A new species of freshwater amphipod, Gammarus obruki sp. nov., collected from İnderesi Cave, Bartın Province, Turkey, is described and illustrated. The new species belongs to the Gammarus pulex group. The most discriminant characters of this species are the presence of prolonged extremities, a very long antenna 1 (up to 52 segmented flagellum), densely setose fifth peduncle and flagellar segments of antenna 2, and a fourth peduncle segment that has no long setae. A detailed morphological description and illustrations of the new species are provided and differences from related species are discussed.

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In a book chapter containing the first checklist and distribution of Turkish rotifers, published in 1999, were listed 167 taxa. The second checklist, published in 2004, reported 229 rotifer taxa in Turkey. During the 7 years since this checklist process, many studies have been carried out and we have prepared a new checklist of Turkish rotifers in the present study. In all, 341 rotifer taxa have been recorded to date.

Occurrence Of Fig Wasps (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea) In Ficus Caria And F. Microcarpa In Hatay, Turkey, Mi̇kdat Doğanlar

Turkish Journal of Zoology

This study focuses on fig wasps (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea), considering that only 2 fig wasp species, Blastophaga psenes (L.) and Philotrypesis caricae (L.) (new record) are associated with Ficus carica in Turkey. Five fig wasps species, namely Eupristina verticillata Waterston, Walkerella microcarpae Boucek, Odontofroggatia ishii Wiebes, Philotrypesis taiwanensis Chen, and Philotrypesis emeryi Grandi were found on Ficus microcarpa (L.), which is an Asian fig tree, and has been ornamentally cultivated in Turkey since the 1930s. Among them, E. verticillata was detected as a specific pollinator of F. microcarpa, the rest of the species were not pollinators, and all of them are …

First Record Of The Mite Family Ctenobelbidae (Acari, Oribatida) From Turkey: Ctenobelba (Ctenobelba) Ayyildizi Sp. Nov., Şule Baran

Turkish Journal of Zoology

The family Ctenobelbidae (Acari, Oribatida) is recorded for the first time from Turkey. A new species of genus Ctenobelba, Ctenobelba (Ctenobelba) ayyildizi sp. nov., is described based on the specimens collected from chestnut forest in the province of Manisa, Turkey. An identification key to the known subgenera of the genus is given. Scanning electron microscopy photographs of the newly described species are also provided. The new species differs from the related species by anteriorly diverging lamellae.
