Pollution of the aquatic ecosystems by heavy metals is a worldwide problem. In the present study, Clarias batrachus was exposed to Mercury and Chromium for 24, 48, 72 and 96 hrs. The median lethal concentration (LC50) of mercury to C. batrachus for 24, 48, 72 and 96 h of exposure were 1.4 ppm, 1.2 ppm, 1.0 ppm and 0.8 ppm respectively. The median lethal concentration (LC50) of chromium to C. batrachus for 24, 48, 72 and 96 h of exposure were 120 ppm, 115 ppm, 110 ppm and 102 ppm respectively. The present study was carried out to determine the effects of sub-lethal concentration (96 h-LC50) of mercury .026ppm, 0.040ppm and 0.080ppm) and chromium (3.4ppm, 5.1ppm and 10.2ppm) for 28 days in Clarias batrachus and the protein content in the brain, gills, liver, kidney and muscle were quantified Bradford method. The levels of protein content in the liver, kidney, brain, muscle and gill showed fluctuations of decreasing and increasing trend in fishes exposed to different concentrations of mercury and chromium in a time–dosedependent manner.The protein variation in the tissues of C.batrachus were significant when exposed in mercury and chromium. The acute toxicity and bioaccumulation of cadmium, copper, lead and zinc to Penaeus monodon (Tiger prawn) was evaluated in static tests. Each test lasted up to 4 d and LC50 values were also calculated. The toxicity of each metal increased with exposure time for cadmium, copper, lead and zinc. The 96 hours LC50 values for cadmium, copper, lead and zinc were 1.72, 0.66, 0.41, 2.36 mg/l. Lead was toxic metal to P.monodon than zinc followed by cadmium and copper tested.
