A Study In The Seasonal Variation Of Phytoplankton Inhafik Lake (Sivas, Turkey), Sabri Kilinç Jan 1998

A Study In The Seasonal Variation Of Phytoplankton Inhafik Lake (Sivas, Turkey), Sabri Kilinç

Turkish Journal of Botany

The seasonal variations in composition of the phytoplankton of Hafik lake was studied from April 1986to June 1987. Ba- cillariophyta, Chlorophyta, and Cyanophyta were the most abundant components of the phytoplankton community. Chrysophyta, Cryptophyta, Dinophyta, and Euglenophyta were found in low numbers. Diatoms showed an increase in spring but were scarce in summer and autumn. Cyclotella meneghiniana Kuetz. and Cyclotella ocellata Pant. were the most frequent species. Chlorophyta was the next most abundant group and showed greater numbers in spring than in autumn and summer. Chlamydonomonas, Oo- cytis, and Scenedesmus species were the main algae. Cyanophyta members (Gloeocapsa, Chroococcus, Oscillatoria) …

Diatoms (Bacillariophyta) In The Phytoplankton Of Keban Reservoir And Their Seasonal Variations, A. Kadri Çeti̇n, Bülent Şen Jan 1998

Diatoms (Bacillariophyta) In The Phytoplankton Of Keban Reservoir And Their Seasonal Variations, A. Kadri Çeti̇n, Bülent Şen

Turkish Journal of Botany

The seasonal variations of planktonic diatoms occurring in the Keban and Içme regions of Keban Reservoir were in-vestigated over a 2-year period (January 1991 - December 1992). A total of 104 diatom taxa were determined. Cyclotella ocellata Pantocksek, C. kützingiana Thwaites (Centrales), Asterionella formosa Hassall and Fragilaria crotonensis Kitton (Pennales) were the most conspicuous diatoms in terms of frequency of occurrence and numbers of individuals in the phytoplankton. The species composition and seasonal growth properties of the diatoms differed in the Keban and Içme regions of the lake. Although the quan-tity of diatoms tended to increase in all seasons, spring …

Seasonal Variations Of Phytoplankton Blooms In Suat Ugurlu (Samsun - Turkey), Arif Gönülol, Olcay Obali Jan 1998

Seasonal Variations Of Phytoplankton Blooms In Suat Ugurlu (Samsun - Turkey), Arif Gönülol, Olcay Obali

Turkish Journal of Botany

The seasonal variations in phytoplankton blooms in Suat Uğurlu Reservoir were studied between July 1992 and De-cember 1993. In certain months, the species Asterionella formosa Hassal, Cyclotella planctonica Brunthaler, Melosira granulata (Ehr.) Ralfs (Bacillariophyta); Pediastrum simplex Meyen, Pandorina morum Borry (Chlorophyta) and Ceratium hirundinella (O F. Müller) Schrank (Dinophyta) produced blooms in the lake. During the study period, the measured N/P ratio in the water varied from 10.3 mg/lt to 62.5. In accordance with these variations, P. simplex, P. morum and C. hirundinella, which consume high levels of phosphate, produced blooms in summer, whereas the blooms in winter were produced …
