Lipoteichoic acid (LTA) is a cell-wall polymer in Gram-positive bacteria that stimulates inflammation. Few studies have investigated in vivo immune response to LTA, and none of the in vivo studies have been performed in birds. For this project, the pulp (a skin derivative) of growing feathers (GF) of chickens was used to investigate the in vivo effects of intradermally injected LTA. In Study 1, GF of chickens were injected with 10 μL of differing concentrations of LTA (0.1, 1.0, 10, 100 or 250 μg LTA/mL; 3 chickens/dose). Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovars are leading causative agents of gastroenteritis in humans and numerous animal species worldwide. The ClpP from Salmonella enterica is responsible for regulation under various stress conditions. We were interested in the effect of ClpP deletion mutation on attenuation of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Enteritidis (SE) in chickens. The aim of this study was to determine growth performance, meat quality, and oxidative changes in breast muscles depending on the genotype and age of broiler chickens. The experiment was conducted on 1080 chickens: fast-growing Cobb 500, medium-growing Hubbard JA957, and a slow-growing experimental line. Chickens from all genetic groups were reared on litter for 8 weeks, but from the 5th week of age, 15 chickens from each group were slaughtered every week. Improving the genetic resistance of chickens to parasitic diseases is an alternative way to protect the poultry industry. To establish valid measurable in vivo parameters indicating coccidiosis resistance, 232 Jinghai Yellow chickens were randomly selected and orally infected with Eimeria tenella (1.5 x 104 sporulated oocysts per chicken). The resistant and susceptible chickens were classified based on their cecal lesion scores 8 days after infection. Chickens and turkeys are routinely infected with the roundworms Ascaridia galli and A. dissimilis, respectively. The current study was conducted to gather basic information on these worms and to determine whether heterologous infections (chicken worms in turkeys and turkey worms in chickens) would be successful. Chickens and turkeys were obtained at day of hatch, brooded to 7 days of age, and placed in pens (25/pen) according to infection as received at 7 days of age: homologous, heterologous and control (no infection). The "Fatty Liver and Kidney Syndrome" (FLKS) was induced experimentally in white broiler chickens. Eighty chickens of ten-day-old were divided into equally five groups. These chickens were fed with a daily provided commercial ration containing poultry rendering oil in a ratio of 0% in group I (control group), 5% in group II, 10% in group III, 15% in group IV and 20% in group V for eight weeks. The Coccidia Of The Gallinaceous Birds In Azerbaijan, Musa Musaev, Gamida Gaibova, Galiba Ismailova, Farida Alieva, Naila Iskenderova

In this study the data on the coccidia of gallinaceous birds in Azerbaijan were presented. Chickens and pheasants have already been examined earlier concerning the presence of Eimeria and Isospora. Peacocks and quails are studied in this aspect for the first time. The examination of the gallinaceous birds concerning the presence of crytosporidia oocysts has been also carried out for the first time. The results obtained are indicative of the presence of a few coccidian species in the gallinaceous birds which have not been detected in Azerbaijan before.
